the report describes liverpool fans as the worst in europe !

although i knew that they definately were not the best i dont agree they are the worst that dishonour belongs to eithere the ultras at roma or fans of feynord or ADO DEN HAGUE in holland or even numerous clubs in eastern european and spanish clubs for their racist chanting !

ITS NOT meant simply to wind up ally !

its another instance of EUEFA having a go at british football whilst they turn a blind eye to all the hooloiganism and racism in other european leagues.

Just read the article in one of the Sunday papers here!

All it's about is Uefa trying to divert attention away from their own inept, corrupt organisation which has no clue how to do anything right. The man in charge (Platini) is there for one reason only: To say YES to the incompentent Blatter, who only interest is to get richer! FIFA are possibly the most corrupt organisation in world sport, well except for the Oyimpic organisation.

Was reading a interesting peice earlier this week about a reporter who happened to share a ride back to the airport with a senoir(ish) UEFA offical, after the European Championship final. (THink it was a Nicky Campbell in the Guardian on Wed or THur). The offical came out with lots of infomation about the ineptness of the people running it, and what all their nicknames were. Quite an eyeopener!

Worst fans in Europe? Just shows how far they will go to try and cover there own ar$es, I agree with you TMan, Its typical of Uefa to slam and put all the blame for everything on British supporters when they turn a blind eye to some of the disgraceful scenes from some countries like Turkey and Italy.. And also the blantant racist abuse some of the traveling teams players face in Spain, Turkey, Italy etc... Sure look at the the pathetic fine they handed out to the Spanish coach after the appalling racist remarks he made about Henry, Something like a 15,000 euro fine which was later recinded

Fully agree with you. FIFA and followed by their yes-saying daughter UEFA are very corrupt and have two main goals. Get as rich as possible and secondly try to help and favor some countries to win (world) cups with poor players material (Germany 2006).

I don't think L'pool fans are that bad. With any club you have the hard-core people that try to spoil the good fans afternoon or evening out to the football game. Someone already mentioned Feijenoord or ADO Den Haag. You are right. On the other hand Feijenoord fan were involved in a battle in Nancy, France. Depite the warnings giving by Feijenoord 2 weeks prior to the game, still it went out of hand mainly because of poor organization by the French. What does the (French gouverned) UEFA do? Yes, right! Nothing! Nancy is a French team and you know from what country Platini is a native...

Are you saying they need to be provoked to behave like asho...
Dont know about FIFA or UFEA,they can be so corrupt they want, have problems to anderstand why footbal fans cant behave when they travel to a foreign place to watch a game.Good atmosphere, what is that? make a lot of noice and trouble ?

It goes over and over again, but of cource we can not blame the idiots that cant behave

And this was a CL final, then we maybee have to accept that the two teams with their fans cone into the spotlights, not anybody else.
And from the news reports i read they have notting to be proud of,buts that maybee normal in footbal today, thats just the way its is,is it ?

Hang on a second Petter, They said over the past 4years there has been 25 incidents of travelling Liverpool fans getting into trouble... "25" in 4 years, There was at least 100,000 fans in Athens and they can only find "25" incidents where Liverpool fans were in trouble in the last 4 years?

And absolutly none of them even resulted in Liverpool Fc getting a fine or any sanctions whatsoever against the club, Its all fcuking bullshit to cover there own ar$es, They cant even say what any of those incidents where? Does that not tell you anything?

Now I am not saying that Liverpool Fans are angels and none of them get into any trouble, There will always be isolated incidents with all travelling fans, Especially when there is alcohol involved and thats not just in football, Thats in all walks of life... The one thing I thought was disgusting was I seen on skynews this morning some scumbag robbing a ticket out of another Liverpool supporters hand and running into the stadium, Now I am a Liverpool supporter and would never do anything like that so they should not tar us all with the same brush, And I bet most Liverpool would not do that!!

Again I am not condoning what some of them done at the stadium, Those that robbed tickets at the stadium and caused the storm of the gates are scumbags and are a tiny minority of Liverpool fans, But Uefa were warned that there was loads of fake tickets and people traveling without tickets and they should not have let anyone near that stadium without tickets, Liverpool Fc warned them the number of supporters that was coming to the stadium, And yet there was hardly any check points or sercurity at a major tornament like this, Also they gave Liverpool fans 17,000 tickets out of 65-70,000 and that was a disgrace, They should give the fans a hell of a lot more tickets than that, Instead they give them to there corparate buddys where most of them end up on the black market, Getting sold to those same Liverpool fans for 10-15 times the face value of the tickets, That just aint fair

And did you notice that none of this happened in Istanbul? No because more tickets where given to the supporters, The security was a hell of a lot better and it was held in a proper football stadium with turnstiles so it was much easier to filter through the fans in single file and check the tickets at the same time, Thats the way it should be done, And Uefa should take responsibilty for the mess that they created!!!

I don't understand really what you are saying. English football has changed to the extent now where more families are traveling to European away games, rather than just your hardcore "i want to get into a fight" fan nowadays. I have been away with Chelsea in Europe several times and there were a lot of families there.

A lot of the trouble that is caused is by opposing fans that want to have a go at the English because we are the "so-called best hooligans in Europe".

There will be a minority of fans that want to start trouble, but if you look at recent history, its the English fans who are provoked rather than them starting the trouble.

Look at what happened in Seville and Rome this season for instance.

We could go back over the last 5 - 10 years and the fact is more often than not, english fans are targetted rather than starting the trouble several other examples are Middlesbrough at Roma who had to be kept in the stadium for a couple of hours after the game had finished for there own protection. Millwall in budapest when they played Ferncvaros, several fans were put in hospital with stab wounds. what was even worse at that game was the Millwall fans had been behaving, then were forced to defend themselves. That tragic night in Istanbul, where 2 leeds fans were stabbed to death. Chelsea fans being pelted by coins and lighters in Marseille (I came out of that ground with a few extra euros) I also believed that Liverpool fans had a battle a while ago against Roma in Rome or was it AC Milan, (well one of the two anyway) Manchester united fans being pelted by rubber bullets by cops in Porto back as far as 1997. Again manchester united fans being injured by cops in their tie against Inter Milan back in 1999.

The chances are when British clubs are away at either Spanish or Italian clubs, and this is from personal experience, it's not just the opposing fans we have to worry about but the cops as well.

The problem is the REPUTATION that English football has, and that is harder to shift.

This is IMHO one of the reasons, these things happen. I've seen this many times and not only in Holland and not only with football games.

Sports officials (in Holland, we call them BoBo) always take care about themselves and not about "John, the average Spectator" in the stadium. Look e.g. at the last held Olympic Wintergames. Same thing happened there. Also during the last World Champs Speedskating here in Holland. On the oval with a capaity of about 15,000, more than 50% of the tickets were given to officials and sponsors. Hence many skating fans from Holland, Norway, Germany, etc. were left outside. All because the ISU wanted it this way.

So it is not only in football, but in footbal it might be the worst.
