Well, I watched the game last night and despite Arsen Wenger's thoughts on Blackburn, I think, they pretty much played us off the park. Emerton, McCarthy, Santa Cruz et el. put on a good display.
The usually solid Dunne and Richards couldn't handle Blackburns forward line and I didn't expect City to muster just two shots on goal. Schmeichel flapped at every cross or corner.
For our imports from sunnier climbs, those plying their trade in Italy and Brazil, maybe a rainy late afternoon in Blackburn is something they need to get used to?
Anyway, it gave me a bit of a reality check......I don't think we'll win the premiership this year........

Back up to second spot! Maybe we will win the league this season!
Good display against Villa, brilliant goal by Johnson and Corluka looked good in the center, standing in for Dunne.....got me thinking: if we could get a pacy right winger, stick Corluka in the middle and switch Micah Richards back to right back we could have a real attacking right side with Richards overlapping (same as SWP and Richards for England).
Anyway, far more interesting story was Stephen Ireland's escapades last week. Story I read was, after Irelands international last week-end they received a call from Stephen's girlfriend saying his grannie had died, he calls his GF and confirms his mother's mother has died and he needs to get back home. Next day newspapers reveal that his maternal grannie is still alive.....Staunton calls Ireland and he backtracks and says it's his paternal grannie who's died........next day newspapers reveal Dad's mum is also still alive........call by Sven demanding an explanation, Ireland says Oh, Grandad's divorced, it's his first wife who's died!!!
All turns out to be lies.......Sven's suggesting Ireland sees a psychiatrist.....I'm not surprised.....

Heh snorter, I'm slowly coming round to you enthusiasm, tonights display was brilliant, Elano man of the match and Petrov was so fast, didn't know that!! We do need a replacement for Mpenza though he is looking decidedly second class, no speed and lacks finishing, but...........................................sorr y was just dreaming a little bit!!!!

Blue (over the) moon....
Last nights game..wonder goal, Johnson finally fulfilling promise, Richards, sublime, defence looking competent and it seems that whichever midfielder opponents mark out of the game, another one assumes the mantle and becomes a pest. I have never known a better time to a blue since Bell, Lee and Buzzer et al.
Ireland needs to go and spend a few weeks with me mum so he'd put on a few pounds and be able to battle a bit more.
Before the kick off Stan James had Citeh at 750 - 1 to win the league, now I'm not gettting carried away, but it was a great each way bet without a ball being kicked.
Still 100-1 and still worth an each way punt, if only I could get on.
Any interest on forming an official Phuket supporters club out there?

Didn't get much of a bite for that one eh, Jack? Give it another couple of months and all the gloryhunters will be jumping on the band-wagon, they'll be qeueing up to join the Phuket Supports Club!!
Seriously though, I think there's only about 6 BM's are City fans (including your goodself) and I'm pretty unlikely to get down to Phuket. Having said that, maybe I should take a break down there and meet up with Dodger, yourself and others around next May.
It will definately be better to watch City in the FA Cup final with a few fellow blues........there's none live round here.

I didn't bite cos I thought there would to much travelling for home and away games!!!
Used to be a member of my local towns city supporters club, it was really good we went to a regular bar with big screen in our town for home games and went by bus to Cambridge (next nearest city) for away games, to get an away day feel to the game.

Helen Helen ring your bell...Blues are here
Lads, I know at least 8 proper blues who are like myself long term residents, not many of them frequent tohe board or are BMs though. Maybe I will send them mails and get this going. What a laugh it would be to have all the visiting blues and resident blues in a decent bar.
On another note, is it me or was Steve McKenzies volleyed goal against Spurs in the FA cup final way better than the dirty diving Argie bastards that everyone goes on about?

Yeah the 1981 FA Cup final i went to both games as a Spurs fan, fairly young at the time but a game i'll never forget, McKenzies goal was quality but Ricky Villa's solo effort was unforgetable.... the good old days at Wembley !!!
A thanks goes out to Tommy Hutchison, who's deflection forced the replay!!!!

City vs Boro.......
City 2-0 up in the first half.
A boro own goal from Petrov's corner after 9 mins and.....
"Michael Johnson’s sublime backheel went straight to the Brazilian international, who steadied himself before firing in an unstoppable shot low into the bottom right hand corner of the net from around 25 yards out" after 33 mins.
I must get the platinum package from UBC!!

This is the first season that I've actually found myself rooting for Man C when watching them in PL. Naturally not against Arsenal, and we all know how that one turned out...
I think it's partly because I'm Swedish and would like to see our beloved Sven-Goran get some credit, but also because they seem to be playing a sort of "Arsenal-light" kind of game so far that's really enjoyable to watch. Also they beat Man U, and a Man U loss is almost as good as an Arsenal win.
If Elano is going to keep this kind of level in his game, I think City will have to give him up sooner rather than later (could be said about more of the squad, but he's been the most impressive one).

I read this piece about Stephen Ireland today:
Fears were growing last night that Stephen Ireland, the troubled Manchester City midfield player, will give up international football at the tender age of 21.
The player is already on temporary “leave”, having withdrawn from Ireland’s squad for the European Championship qualifying matches at home to Germany and Cyprus, after missing the previous international week amid sensational developments in which he misled his club and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) about the reason behind his unavailability.
He claimed that a grandmother had died before finally admitting that he had withdrawn from the squad because his girlfriend had suffered a miscarriage. Although still playing for City, he is receiving counselling for his problems and his club have enlisted specialist help from the United States.
Newspaper reports in Dublin at the weekend claimed that the reason that Ireland put his international career on hold was that he had been mocked by his Ireland colleagues over an alleged hair transplant or his wearing of a hairpiece.
This taunting, it was said, degenerated into two teammates pinning him to the floor and attempting to remove the “evidence”. It is understood that Ireland’s distress at the reports could shatter his recovery. “If this goes on, there’s now a great fear that Stephen will retire from Ireland for good,” a source said. Another source told The Times that it was “more basic ribbing but he took it really badly”. The FAI denied that any bullying took place.

The Elano goal against Newcastle has been removed from the link above.
So here it is again for all the fellow blues: YouTube - Elano's freekick against newcastle
On another note, today's ref for the game against Birmingham (Mike Dean) has a magnificent record for his six games so far this season: 4 red cards and 35 yellows!!
Something tells me another Elano free-kicked goal is on the way......... n61113025347506817871lr3.jpg
