I wouldn't disagree with those odds either. Forget any team outside the top three, they have no chance.

I think that the Newcastle board are trying to put a brave face on what's basically a desperation measure. No manager of any worth (read: anyone who's ever had a modicum of success at Premiership management level) is going to want to piss on the Newcastle job.
The fans want success in 5 minutes and the board give the managers 4 minutes to get it. I thought that Redknapp was quite diplomatic in disassociating himself from the job. "It's flattering to be connected" actually translates as "Manage Newcastle? Fahhhhhkkorrrffff!"
So now rather than getting turned down by an unending list of possible managers, they've given it to Kamikaze Football Kevin. Firm hand on the tiller, steady as she sinks.

Been laughing my ass off ever since this was announced, I know they want 'entertainment' up there but jeez louise, Kevin Keegan? Again?
Besides, Newcastle should maybe not be quite so hard on themselves. They entertained the Man United fans no end last weekend
What's the betting that KKs first signing is a striker?

Glorious 2 - 0 Goal by Flamini against Newcastle now. The Flamster has certainly taken a big step forward this year. Still only 24 also...Happy times.
Unlucky that Keegan had to face the Gunners twice this early on. And as I write this Fabregas scores number three...rough start indeed...

I see they brought Dennis Wise in today, handy if you want to put the wind up Toon taxi drivers but I can't see what he brings in a footballing sense. They were talking about him being the director of football this morning, but Keegan was denying all knowledge and saying 'ask the chairman' so he had no say in bringing the guy in.
Top four club? Not anytime soon.

I have my doubts that Keegan will stick around too long. Only now can he really appreciate what he has taken on. Even a local player (Woodgate, a Geordie) didn't want to sign for them. Owen looks finished, and their defence is just atrocious.
If the season was just starting, on current form, Newcastle would be in the relegation zone IMO.
Keegan to bale out before the end of the season is my guess, unless he really needs that £20m 4yr contract

I think Leeds have got the best part of this deal. Rid of Wise and some compensation and Mcallister in as a (better) replacement.
JUst can see what Newcastle are playing at. Most of the time you can see the idea behind a move like this, however idiotic you think it is. But with this apointment I have none! No chance of him ever being given the managers job himself imho.
The only thing I can think off is if Shearer hates Dennis Wise, and Keegan has brought him so Sheraer cant come back in a split the dressing room/fans.
The best bit of business this transfer window, I think, saw M. Sissoko leave liverpool for an initial £8.2m. Juve must be desperate as I honestly think he has a real big problem with his vision. Still, knowing Liverpool at the moment, he will go on and make Juve in to a power house.

Newcastle is comedy central at the moment, and Sunderland are only a couple of places behind now too. I'm with Dawsey, Keegan finished before the endo of the season.

I have watched newcaste in their last 2 games against Arsenal and they are mostly rubbish. How on earth can they play Michael owen and alan Smith up front? They are absoluetly awful. And damien Duff?? Was he once a good player or just overrated?? Those 3 have been terrible and without Martins newcaste has noone that can score.... relegation? yes, maybe........
To newcastles credit they seem a bit tighter in the back now, but not much

I can't believe that Newcastle are celebrating their draw with Boro as if it was a win!

Anyone but Man U is the best club ever! Can't believe the goal Tevez got against Spurs in injury time for their draw

I wish they had not insisted on the minute's silence at the City game, that really is asking for trouble.
