After todays games the top of the table is looking a bit different
I didn't expect to see Everton in such a good position, nor Spurs so low, but already the league table is taking a familiar shape. Liverpool deserve top spot with that huge 6- 0 win yesterday, although the opposition wasn't much, they still have to beaten. Arsenal creeping quietly up doesn't surprise me, nor does Chelsea finally losing after 18 unbeaten games.
I fancy the top 8 sides will still be there, not necessarily in those positions, at the end of the season. Only Spurs breaking into the top 8 though.

Just came across this page on the BBC football wesite, and it looks a bit of fun. Put in your predictions for each weeks results, click on update at the foot of the page, and the table will show how it would look based on your predictions being correct. It goes right to the end of season.

Looking good for Liverpool and Arsenal, they also have one game in hand to their fiercest rivals. I have seen both teams in several games and they have both played some really good football, surprisingly so this early in the season.

It breaks my heart to say Spurs look dreadful
And Man Utd and Chelsea look mid table hopefuls
Liverpool are looking a very safe bet at the moment....
Chelsea must be desperate if they're looking to spend a huge sum for Ronaldinho.... its like if in doubt spend more money....sorry football doesn't work like that
Mr Abramovich didn't look too impressed leaving his seat with 5 mins to go

I'm reckoning its still very early days, long season, injuries to key players or key players coming back, to easy to get excited or predicting after only 5 games.
Reckon Liverpool have improved dramatically, based on new forward, different formation and Manager that is not revolving the squad and formation every game. Not impressed at all with Arsenal, think they will get found out mid season. Utd & Chelsea, slow start but they have the squad of experience of doing it before, will bring them back into the frame. Spurs, wow, almost speechless.
And Masterwoodsman don't knock Chelsea for buying their way back into contention, every other team in the league is trying the same tactics.

I wasn't knocking Chelsea for spending money, i'm well aware that other teams such as Liverpool, Man Utd and Spurs, to name a few, have spent big this season but i just think its ironic that with chelsea having a below average start to the season, they have to go and target the best player in the world... it just seems like a desperation bid.... like they haven't got a big enough quality squad already..... IMO Mourinho doesn't always get the best out of the big name players... Ballack and Shevchenko prime examples !!!!

Think it might have been Ronaldinho targetting them rather than other way round.

Transfer speculation: Ronaldinho to Chelsea (£83m)
Seems to me from the link above that Chelsea are doing all the chasing

Guillem, I've been supporting Barcelona for years now, would you agree with me that a time for change has come to the club? Frank Rijkaard should fix the problem by selling on at least one or two of the players who suffer from 'galacticoism'. With Dos Santos coming up the ranks and the new stars added I believe it's time for Deco to move on, there is also Eto'o and Ronaldinho, two great players but if one leaves it would create money and I hope it will end the 'Galacticoism' problem facing the club and we might win something again. Foysol, East London.
Guillem Replies: I really thought, as many did, that this summer, that Barca should have got rid of one of the top players - either Ronaldinho or Samuel Eto'o. That almost happened, but now the player who is almost getting the blame for Barcelona not winning anything last season is Deco, who is out of the line-up at the moment. He has to move on and I think they have left the big revolution of selling either Eto'o or Ronaldinho until next season. That is why Ronaldinho is preparing himself for the big move and that is why his brother, Roberto de Assis Moreira, met Roman Abramovich recently. I agree with you Foysol, things should have changed in the summer and you can see already that there are still traces of what went wrong last season, but it has not happened. Barca still has the quality to win enough matches to win the league.

Can see the transfer going through in Jan!

I read that Abramovich is getting disillusioned with the style of play Mouriniho is getting Chelsea to play. He wants more open, entertaining football (don't we all), but its not happening. It is Abramovich who is pushing for Ronaldiniho to sign for Chelsea, but £83m is absolutely crazy money. I also read that Mouriniho doesn't want Ronaldiniho, so there could be trouble ahead again at Chelsea.

Exactly the reason Chelsea got stuffed by the Villa. Villa took the game to Chelsea by being offensive, whereas Chelsea seem to play with such a negative attitude, the slow build up waiting for mistakes.....
You only have to look at the managers :-
O'neill, British, played in and enjoys an open attacking flair in football (as it should be)
Mourinho, European, negative boring build up play that isn't football as us brits know it and extremely boring to watch...
IMHO O'neill would have been a better choice for the England coach.... I think Sven brainwashed McClaren during his reign as coach...

Many young English players in Villa now.
Maybe O Neil is looking to become England Manager one day.

Oh I don't know Johnny, what with Mclaren recalling Hesky to the england squad, if Martin O'Neill could wangle a change of nationality he'd probably get a game!!!!

It's ugly football but the dominant style when it comes to actually winning stuff in Europe both international and domestic back since france won the world cup in '98. Chelsea are struggling as they have problems at the back and aren't scoring, as we saw last season when they have players out it seems to easily knock their team out of whack. It was a bad bad result for chelsea but it happens...come christmas time the table will be looking more familiar I thnk.

Arsenal on top! Happy Happy
A good game against a bit unlucky Spurs side today. Surely they are better then their position on the league table. Today they blew 3-4 100% chances in an exciting game with lots of chances to both sides. But a well deserved victory it was with us having the most of the possesion.
So Arsenals start is great, the big difference between the start of last season and this is that we dont miss the same amount of chances because midfielders are now scoring goals!!
Go Gunners!!
