Caddying a lucrative job !!!

If Tiger Woods wins the Tour Championship (final round today, 3 shots ahead) and looks evident he will win the inaugral Fed Ex Cup, his caddy Steve Williams stands to receive a cheque for $1.2 Million U.S !!!

That would stand him roughly in the Top Twenty leading money earners on the PGA tour in the 2007 season...... INCREDIBLE

It is incredible, but these guys need to have a lot of knowledge and thick skins. It's not a bad income for somebody who isn't even playing though.

With the correct encouragment and advice at the right time, they can make the difference between winning and losing!!

Wasn't Tigers caddy one of the top sports earners in New Zealand at one time? must top that list this year!!

yep SW has been the highest earning sportsman in NZ for many years running

He's worth every cent of it to Tiger.......and Tiger has said that as long as he is playing golf Steve is his caddy....they are best mates and Tiger came to NZ for his wedding and was his best man...Tiger sees it as a partnership simple as that

people don't like him because he is fiercely protective of Tiger.....he glares at the crowd in case someone is lining up a camera during his backswing etc at Tiger's insistance..... that is his job....minder, bag man, iron selection expert, putt line expert, distance expert, packmule, PR manager etc etc....

was also Greg Norman's caddy when he was winning.....he's no normal caddy...good enough golfer to be a professional golfer himself....just ask Tiger his opinion

the stories about him i have heard from people that are golfers and golf fans
they know what they are talking about and go to plenty of tournaments and have said nothing but bad things about him
maybe its his job but he goes about it the wrong way

Well Paulie just to balance the ledger a bit.....

he is somewhat of a hero here in NZ for his success in caddying for the likes of Peter Thomson, Greg Norman, Ray Floyd + Tiger and he's the only caddy I know of with his own charity....supporting underpriveleged junior golfers in NZ

I have played a round of golf with him and another one group behind him in charity days at my golf course for his foundation and can honestly say that he was a perfect gentleman and great company on both days.....Tiger was there too one one of the occasions IJ so I DID get to hear his opinion about SW......I heard only great things

I don't envy his job one bit.....he has to keep people away from their hero....everyone wants a piece of the hottest sportstar in the world....and at the end of the day he's only there to keep one person happy....

Hmmm... I wouldn't mind to drag a heavy bag around a golf course during a year. Not even for half the money, this guy seems to get.

One bag!! That's nothing! I always carried two bags. Those guys had everything but the kitchen sink in there, plus dozens of shag balls!! I was a beast of burden.
