this all you need to know about Red Sox Nation

all their former players, even guys that are still in the MLB, like Kevin Milllar, Bronson Arroyo, and Bill Mueller are all back in Boston watching the games

thats pretty incredible

Congrats, Beantowners, on another great game. Schilling was tough, Okajima tougher, and Papelbon was lights out!

The Rockies pitchers were tough, too, but their big hitters, with the exception of Matt Holliday, were silent, and one guy can't do it alone, especially if he falls asleep on 1st base!!

One thing you can say about these games, though, is that although sometimes during the season, baseball can be a very dull, boring sport, in this
Series, there is so much high energy and tension on every at-bat and nearly every pitch, that it is very exciting to watch, even if you are not a Sox or Rockies fan!

BTW, speaking of Boston fans, it was a big day in football, as well. Did anyone see the BC game? Unbelievable!! They are getting their butts totally kicked by the VT defense until with 5 minutes to play and BC starting on the VT 7-yard line, VT goes in to a prevent defense, rushing only 3 lineman. 3 minutes later BC is on the board with 7. Then VT boots an onside kick. Now, incredibly, with 11 seconds left and the ball at about the VT 25 yd line, VT rushes only TWO lineman. I don't ever remember ever seeing a team drop 9 into coverage. The halfback then runs right by 2 corners, who are standing around at the 5 and the goal line, with no other receivers in the vicinity, and let the RB go right by them, and he is wide open, no one within 3 yards of him, when a scrambling Matt Ryan spots him and lays the ball on the money. End of game. Final score: BC 14, VT 10

For over 3 and a half quarters, Ryan was completely snuffed by a heavy VT pass rush, which caused him to throw 2 picks, and only get 128 yards passing. Then on the final 2 drives, in which he threw on every down, they rush only 2 or 3 men, giving him all day back there to find his receivers and he picked the VT secondary apart. You would think that some day these coaches would learn, but they never do. Glad I am not a VT fan!!

If I was hiring a coach for a football team, the first thing I would do would be to sit him down and make him repeat one thousand times, "The Prevent Defense prevents you from winning!!!"

It was great seeing Yaz introduce the Bosox lineup the first night and last night Dewey Evans! Man, am I as old as those guys?

It's the old Joe Walsh line, "Everybody's so different, I'm still the same".

Should be interesting to see how the Sox shuffle Ortiz, Youk, & Lowell. It will be nice when substituting them in the game to bat for the pitcher(assuming making the change). Too bad Youk or Lowell can't play SS.

How much a liability is Ortiz at 1st? Speaking of liabilities, RF is a problem.

Ortiz is going to start at first on Saturday night. Youk is a very quality bat and gold glove coming off the bench if needed.

Defense is going to be a problem in Colorado. Dice-K has been average at best. Tough game coming up Saturday. It's going to be up to Mark if we're going to win this.

I had it on two different screens at the bar, right next to each other. Watch the pitch, then watch a play, then watch a pitch, etc. But the last 2 BC drives, I was mostly glued to the BC game. It is not often you see a team win with 2 TDs, the second after an onside kick, when they had been blanked the whole game before. Great finish, although it must have caused some serious high blood pressure in Virginia!!

Also they were having a $3 special for any beer on tap!! Loads of Boston fans there. Not a single Rockie fan or VT fan!

Coors Field is a world away from Fenway Park, so you can't count the Rockies out yet. If they do not score a lot more runs in Coors Field, I will be very surprised. And if they can pitch like they did the last game, they can still win some games and make a dogfight out of this series!
