World Series!! Sox v. Rockies
Congrats to all the Boston guys here on the Board. Your guys show a lot of heart and guts coming back from 3 to 1 down. They could have folded, but instead they looked awesome taking 3 in a row from the Indians, clobbering some pretty outstanding pitchers along the way! Not to mention great performances from Beckett, Schilling, and Dice-K.
Bring on the the Rockies, a sizzling hot team this past month! Should be a great series!!

Just two countries in this particular series - Colorado and Massachusetts.

Should be a great series. I hope I am recovered from this game by the time it starts. There was already snow in Denver recently. Very unseasonably warm here in Boston area.

Japan was well represented last night. Latin America players are all over the league. The best baseball players in the world are playing.

Tickets
Colorado can't even sell their tickets because computers are down.
People are camped outside Fenway Park in line waiting for last minute tickets to be released. They will be sleeping in line on the side walk for a few nights. I don't think I could ever do this to buy a ticket. Most of the seats at Fenway are tiny anyway.
Go Red Sox!

It was named World Series because it was originally sponsored by a newspaper called "World News" or something similiar....that's how it got it's name.

so im all settled for Denver
flight was expensive at 1000cad(suprised by that)
staying at hotel by airport, only 100/nt
bought shit tickets for game 3 at 400 each
and got game 4 tickets free from the Rockie's #1 pitcher, Jeff Francis
so that helps
total for weekend should be about 3500cad

That is true, but just look at any team's lineup today. The best players from all over the world come to the US to prove that they are the best, and to get the biggest paychecks.
In the Red Sox win yesterday, the starting pitcher was from Japan and so was the guy who relieved him. There are players from Japan, Korea, China, Australia, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Aruba, and Canada.
Over 44% of professional baseball players in the US major and minor leagues come from foreign countries! That sounds pretty international to me!!

The home field advantage in Colorado:thinner air.... the SOX won't be able to breath. Then when the Rockies go to Boston...richer air which will make them super human.

Wakefield not being on the Sox roster due to injury is disappointing. He has been on the team for a long time.
Ellsbury starting CF will be nice.
Wonder if Ortiz will start 1st base in Colorado.

Yea, but I'm an American League guy too. Could I ever root for the Yankees? NO. You're right, he is a lying POS.
(I don't want this to get into politics BUT... everyone of these Republicans is a lying POS and I say that as a proud Irish Catholic boy from Boston)

Congrats to Sox fans! A very impressive showing. Your guys are definitely on a roll and have torn up some pretty good pitchers in the last 4 games.
Rockies look a little rusty after the 9 day layoff. But I wouldn't count them out just yet. Today's game won't mean a thing if they can win Game 2. If were to Boston with a split, they will be a leg up. I didn't really expect them to do much against Beckett anyhow.

That's what I meant. "Torn up some pretty good pitchers" means their batters beat the crap out of the other team's pitchers.
Atlhough, actually, their pitchers have done a great job, as well. I wonder how long they can keep this pace up.

Different Coverage
being in Vancouver, i get both the Fox coverage and the international coverage
the amount of commercials on Fox vs. the international coverage is absurd
also, a cool thing is the when the players were announced on Intl coverage, they would post each player's country's flag next to his name, i liked that
