Have to say that I seriously hope they do it, and you won't get me hoping for a Scotland win every day.

I don't follow them, so no idea what the results in the backwaters of Europe have been like, but any team that beats France home and away deserves to progress.

Italy are the World Champions though, so it's a big ask.

I just hope that both Scotland and Italy qualify for Euro 2008. Let the arrogant French stay home for a change.

I will watch the match this afternoon. Could be a good one. And a nice appetizer before the Holland match starts.... 5555555....

I really want the Scottish to win, trouble is the Italians are so good at getting a draw and I think thats all they need.

But the Scots so far have seemed to be able to pull a win out of their matches even though they were seemingly being beaten, so fingers crossed.

Good luck to the Scots today. I think they are going to need it. Of all the sides to play, the Italians are the best at getting a result.
Whatever the result, the Scotland team should be congratulated in doing so well in such a hard group.

Scotland were lucky with the disallowed goal, but it's 1-1 now and a half hour to go. Who knows?

The free kick before the second Italian goal should never have been given to Italy, if free kick then to Scotland!!

Israel 2 Russia 1. Israel score the winner in 91st minute.

England need just a draw against Croatia at Wembley to qualify. Lucky devils.

It is usually in the very last game (s) that the better teams show their superior quality. Norway lost against a Turkish team that had not been good in the earlier games but was in control today against Norway and won. So bye bye Scotland and most probably bye bye Norway as well.

10 DAYS AGO i felt like a lottery winner i mangaed to win 2 tickets to the game in a local radio competition . This morning i feel badly cheated that referee yesterday was hand picked by eufa to ensure that italy and frence went through. i dont want to cause trouble on the board but anyone saying the best team won either did not watch the game or do not know anything about football (these comments must be aimed at the likes of myself to wind us up)

italys chalked off goal i watched the highlights last night and the italian player was just marginally in front of the last defender when the ball was put through i admit if that decison had gone against scotalnd i would have been angry but it was proved by the tv cameras it was right
scotland put italy to the sword in the second half the penalty nailed on 100% certainty in the first half i can accept as the ref had about 6 players in his line of vision but what about the linesman ?

the last minute goal absolute total bo llocks i have never seen a decision like that the italy player went 100% through allan hutton with no intention of going for the ball and yet that bas tard referee gives italy a free kick f ucking blatant cheating.

the damage was done with that crap result we had in georgia even a draw there would have left us needing a draw last night to make france win in ukraine

thank fu ck i am heading to patts on thursday it will help me get over my anger and disgust !

i have no complaints about italy they did what they always do they did not make the crap decisions that referee did !

I am backtracking a little on a small part of my last post its evryones right to have their own opinion just as its mine to dispute it but i was a little too severe with my criticisms of a couple of peoples posts and that is purely down to being gutted ! i will never forget that last minute decision well maybe not until friday anyway 5555555

looking on tghe bright side we have an extremely young team now (weir and ferguson excepted) and some cracking young players coming through so the future is bright especially as our performances in this section have moved us up to 2nd seeds for the world cup draw next week. we might struggle to replace weir but we have plenty of younger players coming along for other positions

next weeks draw i would put my holiday money on right now that scotland will get either ITALY/FRANCE/GERMANY IN our section !

I watched the Sweaty Socks V Radies game in my local boozer and I could not help but notice that virtually to a man all the English guys were cheering on the jocks. Now if this game had been between England & Italy and the pub had a contingent of caladonian folk.....they would have been wearing Italian shirts and eating pizza whilst drinking chianti.

Just my take on events from last night.

Yes, you are right. Italy's 2nd was similar to Scotlands equalizer. Bith should have been disallowed. Then the free kick which resulted into Italy's 2nd goal should have been for Scotland.

Scotland fought like lions, but Italy really never was in too much danger, except for that one chance of Miller, and had the best scoring chances.

Can see your point as well Johnny but I've got to feel for the Scots cos I was fuming at the free kick decision at the end of the game and also felt that perhaps the ref was on a private mission. How was that a free kick against Scotland? maybe corner would have been harsh but when he pointed for a free kick, I was just dumbstruck as to the sense in it. If he didn't see the incident how can he consider making a decision without consulting the linesman? if he saw it, what did he see?

Tommy I reckon you should resist from eating any pizza's or bolognaise whilst in Patts as your own protest, that'll teach em!!!

You know Dodger, Italy always gets good breaks with Spanish refs. Remember the penalty they got during the WC-2006 in the last minute??? It was a Spanish ref who gave it after a Schwalbe (dive) by an Italian!!!

Here a dive is called a Schwalbe. It is a German word, since they "invented" this action (and perfected it later) during the WC final in 1974 and were awarded a penalty (by an English ref )

talbotman

i have now watched all the incidents on sky sports 3 times and here in the light of day is my considered opinion now i have calmed down

italys chalked off goal YES it was agoal

scotands penalty that never was yes A 100% nailed on penalty

scotalnds equaliser too marginal basically ferguson was offside when the initial shot from mculoch went in (but was he interfeering with play) so i will leave that decision open some refs would give it others would not

the last minute goal evry time i see it it makes my blood boil even more absolutely disgusting worst decision i have ever seen in a major game

as i have already admitted and indeed i posted the day after the georgia game that was the game that killed us even a draw in georgia and a draw yesterday and that would have meant the french having to beat ukraine on wednesday and if that was the case i am sure the last incidents in yestrdays game would not have happened

anyway thats me finished with this thread wont come back on it in case that wind up merchant bella uomi posts .
