The police is your best friend???

This weekend is one of the worst in Dutch football. Why? Let me try to explain.

Our local police force is protesting against the gouvernment because they want a higher salary and other improvements for their working conditions. They wanted to organize strike meetings around the 2 big matces this weekend.

Like in England, here we also have a "super weekend" with the games Ajax-PSV and Feijenoord-AZ Alkmaar. The four best teams here in Holland. Due to these police strike actions around these 2 games, the games were cancelled. So the result is all kind of blaiming back and forth. The most heard complaint is now that the police has time to stand behind a tree with a speed gun, because it is easy money, but they don't care for the normal people.

About 100,000 people that cannot go to the stadium and a few million tv viewers, who can't see the games. Economical damage is estimated on about € 1 mio.

I wonder if this happened in other countries as well.

Its certainly one way for the police to get the people behind you, imagine if there was no more football matches due to no police presence.
