Three very good games for supporters of Ireland Wales and England.
All played very well, and England did a superb job on France again.
It all makes for a very interesting final two games for each team.
Wales have a difficult game in Ireland, and meet France at home in their final match. They could still get a deserved Grand Slam.

Bet you had plenty of fun though and would do it again sometime,
Maybe next year when you have forgotten how much it does hurt.

I know that you guys are busy watching 6 Nations. But have you seen any of the Super 14 and more to the point. What do you think of the Experimental laws that are being played??
They are not going down too well here in SA as our teams are battling to adapt. The Bulls, last years S14 Champs got an absolute hiding on Friday from the Crusaders and some locals are of the opinion that the game is becoming like league and our strong points are being negated.
As for me, I like running rugby and I like seeing great tries being scored, The Blues and The Crusaders certainly did that over the weekend.
Any views from up North as it were????

Haven't seen any Super 14 yet retepg as its on Sky which I don't subscribe to.
I'm in the same boat as you in enjoying running rugby with plenty of try scored. Have the new rules assisted this? I haven't read the new rules.
I have to say that I admire the French coach persisting with his idea of running rugby although smarter sides (like England yesterday) nullified that.
The backs score the tries, but the forwards win the ball as the French found.
The new French scrum half looks a great find at 19yrs old

Robbie Deans the Crusaders and soon to be Wallabie coach likes them dawsey
If the IRB are happy with the experiment they could come in to effect in all area's.
They do speed the game up a whole lot and fitness and ball retention become even more important.
Teams like the Bulls who rely heavily on the boot will be at a disadvantage.
If you get a chance somewhere along the line, try and watch a game. If possible one with the Crusaders playing and see if it appeals.
I quite like it, but they had a pole on a local rugby program here in SA an 75% of the viewers were not too happy. But I think that a lot has to do with SA teams being slow learners.

It's amazing how competitive these games are, it kicked off in the first ten minutes. I played an hour or so though and it was good fun. Need to work on that fitness thing I think.

You have to wonder how it will affect the international games though don't you? What will happen when the SH teams, who have been playing by different rules at home, come to play the NH teams?

There was an interesting article in one of the papers here last week I think by Shaun Edwards slating the new rules.
From what I can recall he stated that the new rules changes are in for the benefit of the Southern hemisphere nations as it takes away the power of northern forward play. He compaired it to a rule change a few years back to do with srums and that the Aussies were in favour of and no-one else was.

I guess it depends on the fans and whether you consider their wishes or not......Do the english fans really prefer watching scrums and field goal attempts??

But surely if you remove those elements from the game it just becomes more like league?

They haven't been removed or changed Steve....in fact with the short arm (a free kick rather than) penalty you see the teams using the scrum options much more (than a tap or sideline kick) as the defences are further apart and this gives an advantage to the attacking team......no change to field goals...but yes less shots on goal from place kicks as penalties are now only for major offences like off side or foul play.....

I've not seen it in action yet, so am asking the question rather than commenting on it.
We were talking bout it on Saturday as it happens, and my pal, who is a referee, said it was great because there were no more penalties for ruck offences; it was all just free kicks.
I guess I'm just wondering where it's heading that's all.

I also played over the weekend, managed to retain my good looks and the boots are now securely locked away for a while.
The tournament I played in had Bob Skinstad and Robbie Fleck playing as well as two Wallabies.
needless to say had we had to play either of those two teams the old war wound would have resurfaced.

It was pretty easy for me, I played scrum half and the pack gave me a very easy ride. They are a big bunch of boys and there is not a huge amount of fleet footedness among them; I managed to keep up with them fairly comfortably.
I don't really do that tackling thing either, not my department, but I did get mown down by their No8 a couple of times and have to say that my boots have been hung up again; I'm very, very hurty today.

I also played scrum half. Came out of it relatively unscathed, someone stood on my hand which hurt a bit, and a few muscles are a bit sore. It was only 10's and the game not too long.

Although with my past injurys, it may not be a good idea.

The SH players will be moving between rules if they get chosen to play for their national teams.
So things could get a bit confusing, same goes for refs who have been calling the new laws and then have to revert to the old.
In our domestic competition they are playing the full ELV’s as opposed to the partial ones being used in S14. So the fringe players who are moving between teams also have a problem.
Hopefully the IRB will not take too long to decide if they are going to go with the rule changes.
