Mlb 2008

Thought I would start the 2008 Major League Baseball thread because things have been very eventful even before the season has started.

My home team - the Boston Red Sox- has their equipment truck leaving from Boston tomorrow to spring training down south. Pitchers and catchers report next week.

Mitchel Report: Was Roger on roids? Today it came out from Roger's former trainer that he gave Ms. Clemens HGH before a photo shoot.

Curt Schillings season/career may be over now with a shoulder and bicep injury.

Should be a great year!

I don't think Roger Clemens is going to have a good day on Wednesday. If he does, I will be surprised.

55555 People like their sports around here. Also baseball for this area marks the beginning of the better warmer weather.

No doubt I would rather be in LOS than following sports

As for Clemens, it seems to have become human nature to want to watch a train wreck as it is happenning. Based on the photos in newspapers and news video on television in LOS, Thailand is no different.

'the beginning of better warmer weather' worth popping outside then to watch the rear of the coach as it departs, at least now I understand you do not have to put your winter warmers on, bet thats also eventful!!!

You also seem to forget, the irony that not everyone on the board, well actually, its the majority of people on the board, do not come from Boston, nor America and probably like me, couldn't give a flying feck about some guy called roger who they have never met, nor likely to. So if he gets caught in a train crash don't suppose it will change my day to any great degree!!!

Suppose on reflection I should have just ignored the post, but we live and learn!!

this was probably one of your more ignorant posts i have seen on this board in 4 years, Dodge
the EPL has a long running thread and no American jumps in and posts negative remarks

Roger Clemens, probably known as the greatest pitcher in baseball history is about to go down in flames
i would say that is pretty relevant news that fellow baseabll fans would like to discuss wihtout being put down

yeah yeah I know, but I figure people are free to post what they want in an open forum and some are baseball fans. Just like I am not into LB's people are free to discuss it on the forum.

I have not seen it on TV, but from what little I read he is a sinking ship.

Looking foward to seeing the highlights on the news later.

Yeah man Pettite sold him out. Assuming Congress finds out he lied, everything he did during whole career is in the shitter, not to mention possible jail time for perjury. Don't bother me much thank god he's a Yankee.

Speaking of teams man, I'm pretty psyched the Mets signed Johan Santana. Lets hope we don't have another Melt down this year.

My point was that someone has started a thread telling me of some really eventful things happening in the states on a thai related forum, okay no probs, until I read the eventful things, a truck leaving, a guy on steroids and another guy injured.

So yes we do have a epl thread, not started by me but the epl is viewed by billions all over the world, you mention the greatest footballer in the epl and how many people on here would not know his name. okay so why is the truck leaving so eventful??? why is one guy injured so eventful?? and why should I care if a guy called Roger I've never met, nor know of is taking steroids, and that makes me the most ignorant poster on the board???

Now go read the EPL thread and see the points of discussion, notice any as obscure as this thread?? and please stop being so americanophobic, I can have an anti opinion that relates to something American without me bashing America, this last remark is aimed at your post stating no american had jumped in on the EPL thread, why did you not say no non englishman??? and consider why you are defending this thread so vehemently, if its not because a non american has said anything that could be directed in your mind as anti american.

I don't have an anti american bone in my body.

dont try and make this out as me defending American so vigilantly
it has nothing to do with that and you know it. plain and simple, Baseball is a sport favored by Americans on this board as EPL is favored by many people, myself included, but gets most interest from the UK bm's
so that is why i pointed out no American has come into the EPL with unwarranted negative views
there is zero reason for you to come into this thread and have an anti-opinion or degrading opinion, which that is exactly what your post was.

on to Mass Moose's post
i will admit, he may get a little overzealous, but still shouldnt have someone coming in and disrupting a thread he has no interest or knowledge of

Spring Trainging Truck leaving- i dont think anyone can understand how much the Boston Red Sox mean to people in Boston without living there and experiencing it. so although not a huge deal, it is always a nice day when the truck gets packed up and heads down to Florida. we have been seeing shots of that truck on this day since we were kids.

Roger Clemens-this is potentially one of the biggest scandals in American sports history. it is streaming live on every sports website and on many channels in the states. so it may not mean much to an Englishman that doesnt care about the sport, so maybe that englishman shouldnt interupt a thread he has no interest , but it is the biggest story in the news, in general, today in America

Yeah, it's kind of sad that our pasttime has been tainted like this. First McGuire and Palmiero, then Bonds, now Pettite and Clemens.
Just watching Clemens is sickening. He's selling out his wife just to try and clear his name.

IMHO I don't think Clemens can ever repair his reputation. I believe if people(baseball fans) did not have an opinion before on the situation they do now.
No reason for his trainer to lie at any time in this investigation. Doubt Petite "misheard" anything. Wonder if Petite and Clemens are still friends now?

I think Clemens will be spending much money to stay out of jail.

Should have sold my childhood Roger Clemens baseball cards before today. Surely what little value they had just decreased.

Sad that pro sports can't keep drugs out themselves.

More sad the US government has sports regulation high on their agenda. Maybe they will try to implement state run sports gambling and take the revenues from it eventually?

For baseball fans: Pitchers and catchers report tomorrow!
