I wrote a huge post over several hours in response to the above, full of what I considered to be great points.

I lost it as I'd timed out, was working, meetings etc.

I cannot even be bothered to start it again, so bollox.

The quality ones play for clubs other than Bath and Saracens Pete 5555

BTW, the UK press are saying Jake White will be next Leicester Tigers coach.
Definately looks like he wants to continue his coaching in the NH. Do I hear the sound of money??

Yes we know that, just a bit of a dig at Schmeen..

At the end of the day we could all around in circles arguing the merits of the game in the NH and SH..

As for Jake, he has been linked to all sorts of jobs since the WC.
I would like to see how he goes with a British club, see if he can bring the same level of success.
Personally I think that he has great management skills and is good at molding a team together. On the technical side of the game I believe that there are far better coaches around. There is a feeling amongst some, me included that Eddie Jones was as much responsible for the Bok's style of play at the WC.

Eddi would be a coach the NH clubs would do well to lure as well!...good thinker, cunning game plan tactician and good with the players...probably falls down on politics at the international level....but a great coach nonetheless

He seems to be keeping his options open at the moment, he has worked with Saracens in an advisory position and is supposed to have helped out with the Bulls here in SA. But I don't know if he jumped ship there as there has been nothing said recently.
I think that his strength lies in a short term Mr Fixit role. His stint with the Reds was not at all successful. But then again with the Reds squad, no coach is going to come out covered in glory.

Stormers vs Waratahs

Well it was bucketing down in Newlands last night and I thought it was quite a nailbiter.

Sometimes bad conditions can still result in a good game even if the final outcome was obviously disapointing for both sides.

Just interested in what the rest of you thought of the game given the conditions?

Pretty bruising right till the end

I was at the game last night and got soaked despite sitting under cover as the wind was blowing and swirling.
Like any game in those sort of conditions it became a bit of a lottery and at the end of the day a draw was a fair result. Nether teams were happy as they both needed an outright win to ensure a semi spot.
Hats off the the people of Cape Town who have filled the stadium each week and who came down despite the terrible weather.
We have averaged over 42,000 per game this season.
And hats off to the Stormers who have put behind them a number of lean years to play some great rugby.

From a purely rugby point of view.
Good to see Dan Cater back in action, he came on when the Crusaders were trailing and immediately looked sharp. He just seems to have more time then most. when it comes decision making.

yeah....Carter basically turned that match around and won it for the Crusader's...the Reds looked good and were in with a big chance at that point

been a much closer Super14 this year.....finalist all still up in the air with te exception of the Crusaders....could be up to 7 teams still figuring

Absolutely, I cannot recall a closer finish. We could have two SA teams vying for fourth spot and the chance to go to Christchurch to play the Crusaders…

Lucky SA teams eh Pete...555

Crusaders have looked pretty ordinary over the last few weeks but I think Robbie Deans has his hands on the reins a bit......I can't see any other teams winning it with the adavantage the Crusaders have on home games..... perhaps with the exception of the Hurricanes

It's a hard assignment for any SA team to fly all that way for a home match against an OZ or NZ team......your boys still have a shot at a home semi though....you'll wanna pray for that one!...555

I still technically have a chance to see both my home teams....Waratahs + Hurricanes.....play each other in the final (a semi is also a possibility)...would be hard to choose now who i would want to win but I think that the 'Tahs would get the nod once the game started dspite having a couple of friends playing for the 'Canes

It is a big ask for SA teams to fly to NZ or Oz to play in a semi. But attitude is important.
The Stormers had a great tour this year and showed that you can win away.
There are still a few permutations regarding the Semi’s and the two SA teams could still end up facing each other if the Reds do us a huge favour….

The Lions virtually ending the Chiefs hopes shows that no team can be taken for granted.
Luckily for me, my second team are the Crusaders as I have always admired the way they play the game. But I do have a feeling that the Canes may pull this one off.

hope you are right there Pete.....but they have broken my heart a couple of times already (them and the 'Tah's) so I always remain resolute until the final whistle blows...let's hope one of my teams is able to give me a reason to smile....

I still have my ticket for Tah's at 12/1 to win it....placed at the start of the season

All to play for, Blues vs Canes first up and then Reds vs Tah's on Saturday.
Followed by the two crunch games in SA.

This has been a great competition this year, even if The Stormers do not make the semi's thay will have surpassed my expectations.

Well there goes my first effort at predicting the final winner...
Blues piping the Canes, just a well that I earn a living in a regular job and not as a professional tipster...
Not that the Canes are completely out of it, but they are going to have to rely on a few big upsets.
Nels, your Tah's are now looking good for a possible home final. Not bad for team who's coach was told that he need not reapply for his job next year...

If both the SA teams can win with a bonus point they should be on a plane to Aus / NZ on Monday. The Canes points difference should get them a place should one of the SA teams not pick up the bonus.

Enjoy the afternoon and evening TWD.

hmmm..sorry about that one Pete...loeked like the Stormers just left their run a little too late for a bonus point 4th try....but they gave it a good effort

Must make you think what if with some of their late losses and/or failure to score bonus points in some of their earlier matches

I'm really hoping for a 'Tah's vs 'Canes final in Sydney (sorry about that TWD...555)...the Crusaders looked very ordinary the last 2 weeks and the Shark's have a long flight ahead of them......would be amazing to have my two teams play off for the cup!

have to decide where I'll be for this weekend now...CHCH or Sydney!!!

Tah's and Sharks seem to be the teams carrying a bit of momentum at the moment.
Sydney will be an interesting semi. I think that it will be tough to call as the Sharks have a great pack. But the Tah’s will just shade it.
The other semi should go the way of the Saders, I just think that they will put out their A team and play their A game….

But then I usually call them wrong, so it will be a Sharks, Canes final….

I was happy enough with the Stormers performance, they were written off by most pre season and have a lot of young talent coming thru.

My tip for the best of the semi's. two good packs who won't be afraid to take on the opposition. The Tah's to shade the Sharks amongst the loosies, but a Sharks backline that is begining to click.
Travel unfortunately may just play a part.
