I honestly dont think that Utd have been pi55 poor in any games this season ( bar the derby games ) .......but do agree, Ronaldo has been magical as you put it......
but he isnt the 'team', what about Vidic, Ferdinand, Tevez, Evra, Rooney and Van Der Saar.......who i think have a good chance of being included in the premier league team of the season....

From a very jealous, Man U hating Liverpool fan, I have to say without Ronaldo this season Man U would be challenging for 4th not 1st. In the squad are some good players, but he (Ronaldo) has given you 3 points instead of the 0 or 1 you were heading for, on a number of occasions this season.
But saying that, without the very good players in Giggs, Nani or Scholes, he wouldn't have to room to create the things he does as 2v1 in most games would win out!

I'd better own up to regurgitating some stuff I see on football365. As I'm not a Utd fan I don't follow their games that closely, but have picked up from scanning (as opposed to reading properly) football365 that "Ronaldo saved Utd again..."
I might have noticed comments like that after the recent Bolton game..., but am sure I've seen that more than a couple of times over the season

seriously though, if you put Ronaldo in your Spurs team , it would obviously make you alot better, but don't think you would be suddenly challenging for the title ...?

I'm not a Spurs fan either, but that's a good way of illustrating your point. It would be interesting to see though. Do you think Sir would loan Ronaldo to Spurs next season if we asked nicely

I don't know why there is even a discussion about this. Any unbiased football fan can surely see that C Ronaldo has been head and shoulders above any other player this season. He is the main reason IMO why Utd have been the best team in the Premiership ,and possibly the world, this season.

I was joking with Dan boy about being biased regarding the highlighted text NOT the fact Ronaldo is a fantastic footballer because the fact is... he is..... so lets not get too ahead of ourselves eh !!!
@ Dawsey i've quoted in many threads how much i admire Ronaldo and rate him the best in the world at the moment if you care to back track....
@ Dan Boy i have a horrible feeling that there will be some sort of deal between Utd and Spurs which will consist of Saha & cash for Berbatov..... wishful thinking that it would be Ronaldo instead !!!

This C.Ronaldo is a very talented and gifted player. He is very skilfull and often a pleasure for the eye.
However, with a very bad attitude IMHO. Often suffering from the "German" version of epilepsy. Hence, falling on the pitch when he thinks somebody hits him. His style of playing is also almost like an open invitation to defenders to to their destructive work.
Any player with the talent of Ronaldo can play as good as his team mates let him play. You saw this in previous generations as well.
If a star player has one or two "serving" players who take care of the dirty work, then he can excel.
Even a star player, cannot lift his team to the absolute top all by himself. But they do make the difference on any given day.
Look in the past. Cruijff had Neeskens and Wim Jansen. Maradona had Burruchaga. Beckenbauer had guys like Schwarzenbeck. Etc.

I have only seen the highlights of the Man U v's Arsenal game. Obviously that run then stop before running again & then taking the penalty by Ronaldo must be legal. I thought that the law was that once you start the run toward the ball you must continue, or stop at the ball prior to striking it is also ok. But stopping the run & starting it again is just poor sportsmanship, "dirty pool" or "not cricket". Just my opinion of course, but that is why it grates me that I have to admit that someone that uses these tactics & blatantly dives is actually an excellent player when he refrains form cheating

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on which way you look at it, arrogance and and unsportmanship like conduct is an in built factor throughout the Man Utd set-up. Be it the players that are brought in have it already, or the training that goes on instills it in new players or maybe it just 'rubs' off on newer players. Even higher up the set-up above the manager, the "We are the greatest team in the world" attitude is very rife. You just have to try to listen to the drivel that Bobby Chalton trys to come out with at any given opportunity.
But this is what Ferguson wants I think. It probably gives the Utd players an extra will to win, or maybe the mental strength that other teams lack. THe only team in the EPL that has the same sort of 'strength' is Chelsea, and their person in charge of most things at the club is Peter KEnyon, who spent many a year at Utd, and is possibly one of the most disliked people in football, from what I hear.
I still think the best player in the world is Jan Molby though!

Most winners are usually perceived as being arrogant, and you probably do need to be to be the best.....
dont agree about Utd being unsportsmanlike though ......what do you mean by this ?? wouldnt say Utd were any better or worse than any other team where this is concerned ......

You can always rely on a Liverpool fan for an un-biased, fair minded view of the opposition.....

I think the funniest example was Paul Ince. In my memory he was quite a different person playing at West Ham compared to when he went to Man U. Then he got the Man U attitude too much & wanted to be known as "Guvnor" so Fergie had to sell him

Same surname, different footballer.
The one caught with transvestites is Brazilian, Man Utd's Ronaldo is Portuguese

You got me. I know ZIP about soccer... which is why I referred unto the subject as "our boy." Thought that was clear.
Yet, I remain unclear as to how you determined the "Man Utd" connection since it was not mentioned in the article. At least I do not think so-- sports tend to be heavy on jargon and there may be a reference hidden to all but the cognoscenti.
Guess this makes me guilty of... something. Clueless sports posting?
