Did you watch the game Tommy? Biggest pile of cr&p ever. Rangers had an 11 man defence with no intention to ever score in normal time.Totally negative football. The home leg was 0 - 0 as well.
Zenit St Petersburg who beat Bayern 4 - 0 will murder them in the final.

I wish them well Tommy as they represent the UK, but I honestly see them being beaten by an exceptionally talented young side who played some cracking football to beat Bayern.

Man Utd also played boring negative football in the first leg against Barca but it was done purposely to give them the advantage at home which they took and got to the final.

Its not how you get there its just about getting there, playing in a cup final. Once you've made it its just one game that decides. Why do you think they play 2 legs home and away??? its the managers ability to be tactical and play a team and style which suits the fixture

Being a supporter of football for 30 years i thought you would have understood the necessity for sometimes playing in a defensive way, in order to achieve the grand prize of reaching the final. I'm sure Chelsea at some point have also adopted this style in order to achieve their goal...

I hope on reflection you consider deleting your last line and I will then delete this post. Because in my opinion, your comment is out of order and not called for.

Its OK Bernie. Like me, MWM also has his opinion and to a degree, I agree with it.
The point is, I was merely commenting on the fact that the 2nd leg played by Rangers was uninspiring, unadventurous, and they made no attempt to win the game over the 90mins. That is not the kind of football I enjoy watching.

Compare it to both Chelsea and Utd's recent 2nd legs in the Euro Championship, all 4 sides were trying to win the match.

I fancy MWM's post was just a dig at a Chelsea supporter TBH. Who cares, I don't.

My point, as posted above, was that with everything to play for in the 2nd leg, Rangers decided before the game even kicked off that they would defend. It took them the best part of 75mins before they even had a shot on goal.

If that gets you to a final, well good luck to them. Sure isn't the kind of football I like to see. At least they will be forced to play a different game in the final.................or will they hope that goes to penalties as well??

Dawsey, we all as neutrals/football fans love to see an entertaining attacking game but sometimes its just not possible depending on what is required.
If it meant Spurs had to play in a boring negative fashion in order to get to the final i would rather that than keep playing offensive and risk an away goal.

Once your team is in the final the hard work is done its all about players and supporters enjoying the day and of course both teams will do they're upmost to win...

p.s I wasn't having a dig at the fact yr a Chelsea fan, everyone has they're faults only the fact that sometimes boring/negative is the only way to secure a desired outcome....

So how come Utd, Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool could all put on an entertaining and attacking performance in their 2nd leg matches?
I see your point, but don't agree with it. Playing the game to win I thought was the idea.

Italian teams have been winning trophy's for years playing boring , negative football............
Now Rangers and in the semi ,to some extent Utd have done it, and they are being criticised. Was thinking it doesnt seem right that Barcelona have only won the European cup twice, but they have paid the price for the style of play.

CHELSEA TEAM AROUND £200.000.000 TO BUILD

LIVERPOOL AROUND £100.000.000

MAN UTD AROUND £130.000.000

ARSENAL AN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE

GLASGOW RANGERS AND GLASGOW CELTIC LESS THAN £15.000.000

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IN FOOTBALL maybe just having some top notch players ronaldo/torres/rooney/drogbha allows these teams to be more adventurous

rangers (christ i never dreamed i would be defending them 55555) are in ahuge back log of fixtures at the moment also carrying lots of injuries and suspensions so they did what they had to do

fiorentina are a good side do you really think going over there all guns balzing would have got a result

thats the problem for rangers and celtic absolutely massive world clubs stuck in the poverty of the SPL crap like bolton/wigan/reading getting £40,000,000 a season from sky the old firm get maybe £1.000,000 from setanta.

next week in manchester there will be upwards of 100,000 rangers fans in town they dont give a flying f uck how their team wins the game they just want to win.

The right result, since there was only one team that played football with the intention to win.

Am happy for Dickie Advocaat. After all his roots are in The Hague, just like mine... 55555....

Hard Luck Rangers, you were second best but defended well.

Those scenes of violence in the centre of Manchester were sickening to watch, I thought Scots fans were always well behaved or are the Rangers variety an horrible exception to this theory.

Same as the semi-final Nanook. Only one team wanted to win that game too.

I got flak for saying it, but it was the same last night. Rangers played with a 10 man defence for much of the game. They got what they deserved.........Nothing!
And what a disgrace in Manchester too.
