Anthony Quinn did as good a performance as he did in The Guns Of Navarone
1 try in the first 4 minutes then a 2nd 15 minutes later.
See what happens next round

Was in Australia years ago when the State of Origin matches were on , best part was sitting watching the match on TV.......with the sound off !!!!!
Not as dumb as it appears , had the radio on listening to Roy and HG doing "their" commentary , it was fcuking hilarious !!!!!

I've had been a huge League fan but that changed when I lived in Australia. Watching the best two teams in any sport is great, and these are far and away the best two teams in RL.
I went to a SoO game then, watching such golden names as Benny Elias, Wayne Pearce, Garry Jack, Paul Sironon, Fatty Vautin, Wally Lewis, Mal Meninga and so many more. Australians will tell me if this was a Golden era of SoO games, but it sure felt like it.
These games were as tough as anything I have ever seen in League and Union.
Any interest in league has waned since I left Australia, but I can assure you I'd cross the road to watch these games even now.

Certainly was one of the golden era`s of the game.It was a lot tougher back in those days.Big men standing toe to toe punching on and elbows to the head and bone crunching gang tackles were par for the course.
The game is a lot faster and cleaner these days.
But the level of skill displayed is still higher than all other League contests.

Not a league fan either but I always watch SoO matches....you can't miss 'em
Yes Schmeen....was truly a golden age....the laws were a bit more relaxed back in those days and the boys always obliged with a bit of overheated argie bargie....one of the classics involved mark Geyer + Wally Lewis standing head to head and throwing punches....Geyer is abot 6' 3" and lewis about 5' 10" but Wally never took a step backwards....great stuff!

Yes , The Cane Toads (Qld) walked all over The Cockroaches ( NSW) last night.... but still League at its best.
So another cliff hanger again this year...always seems to be like that. Maybe a stats lover can tell me how many times its been 1:1 to the Final...

I would say from memory more than 50%...and margin of wins is normally much tighter....30 points was the biggest winning margin for Qld
sometimes they seem like WWF matches to me...they just look set up!
BTW...have a pint of the best on me for your birdy IJ!

Games:NSW 40 QLD 41 drawn 2
this is from the time orgin started it is keenly contested
and the amount of points difference between the 2 teams is very close about 20 points over all games
