Oh and whilst people think I'm being grumpy (as if) wasn't it marvellous to see Bobby Charlton lead the team up the steps. He even tried to decline a medal.
50 years after Munich, it was almost pre-written. I think Bobby's a great man and deserving of all the praise he gets. Listen to the BBC's 50th Anniversary program of the Munich disaster if it's still on podcast (Sportsweek), very moving, puts the behaviour of the modern day brat well into focus.

To be fair, I have to agree with Schmeen and say the penalty miss couldn't of happened to a more deserving player than Terry. The bloke is a good footballer, but as a human being, he has a lot to answer too! Got to say the over arrogant Ronaldo deserved to miss to for the same reasons. If only Rio and Rooney could of done the same. But alas no.
The British press does have double standards. If these players were not "respected" English internationals or a world class winger in Ron, than they would be major anti campaigns run by the usual tabloid suspects. Or if they were ordinary people, they would be either in prison for their past misdemeanors.
RAnt over! ManUre did deserve to win it last night, but why did they totally stop playing at half time? Suppose it was down to Scholes and Ron stopped playing well. After 5 min, I said to my dad that Drogba wasn't interested in playing. So not surprised in him getting sent off as he spent the best part of the rest of the game throwing himself at Utd players. Although not sure why he only did in that scuffle??? First half was a good game but the rest was more attritional than the first world war. CAn't see why everyone thinks it was a good game.
Until next season......................

Now It's Official
Manchester United FC are not only the best in England but also unequivocally the number one football team in Europe.
And that is the way it shall stay for the next twelve months
Also, it was nice to see that ten English players started the match (thankfully Arsenal were not there) however, how ironic that England did not qualify for the European Championship which starts in two weeks
On the Drogba sending off presentation/medals issue.
Once you are shown a straight red then you are not awarded a medal of any description, same happened to United's Kevin Moran in an FA Cup final against Everton years ago.

now, i am a pretty new football fan and actually kept away from all scores so i could watch the replay properly at 9pm instead of live at work and loved it, great game
but i am pretty astonished that Drogba isnt getting more shit??
the guy got kicked off right before penalty kicks and i am sure he could have helped!
if i was that Chelsea manager i would have thrown his medal on the ground, he doesnt deserve it
again, maybe it is not as big of deal? seems to me it should be

Unfortunately some of the fans at home did not , same as last week in Manchester it seems some idiots ruin it for the real supporters.

Congrats to Man Utd, deserved winners IMO after such a good first half.
I'm disappointed Chelsea couldn't pull it off, after hitting the woodwork twice, but in the end, a lottery decided it.
Nice to see the Utd players applaud the Chelsea players at the end, and Bobby Charlton showed his class by refusing a medal. A nice touch.
I thought Petr Cech had a brilliant game, and Ronaldo in the first half ran rings around Essien.
I knew as soon as Anelka stepped up he would miss. He showed no emotion afterwards either, and what I thought was an excellent buy at first is now showing he is just a mercenary. He doesn't care who he plays for, he just wants to take the money.
Schmeen, your obvious dislike of everything Chelsea leads me to ignore everything you have written about the match. Chelsea were Utd's equals in that match and deserved better than a penalty shootout.
Your slagging of John Terry was totally out of order IMO. Yes, he has had a questionable past, but that was a long time ago. He is now a fine player for his club and England.
Enjoy yourself watching a once big club, Spurs, achieve mid table mediocrity again next season.

Didn't he go and get totally pissed with his team mates, piss on a night club floor and vomit, just before the crunch Croatia game in November which he was captain for?
I might have a pair of red tinted glasses Dawsey! But I think there are some with English tinted glasses on too!
As for the CEch and Ronaldo in the first half points, I have to agree. Though Van Der Sar was good too.

Not sure how much sense or truth there is in the theory and I'm not saying he' s a bad player but just that he's at Utd due to the wider commercial benefits that he brings.
On the match whilst Chelsea were lucky not to be dead nd buried by half time I was suprised how well they recovered in the second half in which they neutralised the threat of Ronaldo and Rooney. Utd were fortunate to make it to extra time but once there seemed to grab the game to shake up their ideas.
I'm happy Utd won for the memory of those who died 50 year ago
Mrs Terry on the other hand wished she'd been closer when Big John got some wood.........

On the UK ITV commentry they said his medal was collected by the Chelsea manager he collected 2 if you look at the pics but the sent off player was not allowed to collect the med in person
He'd have only complained about the shape, colour, weight, length of sash or something else anyhow.......moaning T....T

If he did, then I didn't read about it.
Going on the beer before an important game isn't the brightest thing to do, but as long as the football performance is OK, whats the problem?
I didn't hear many complaints from the Utd fans when Bestie was boozing his life away but still performing on the pitch.

Great game last night, Thought Utd were brilliant for 30mins in the first half, But after that it was all Chelsea and how they did not win that match I will never know, IMO the better team lost last night but thats football...
Also thought the melee at the end spoiled the game a bit, I did not like what Tevez done, It was ok to put the ball out in the corner for the Chelsea throw after the injury, But I thought he was bang out of order calling on all the Utd players to put pressure on the throw in (Chelsea did not do that, They put the ball out in Utds half but never put any pressure on and it was thrown back to Van der Sar), It was really very unsportsmanlike and I hate seeing that in the game, Thats what sparked the shite at the end and ended up with the Drogba sending off (which he deserved for the slap)... He should be proud, Just typical Utd, Cheating bastards...5555555..
PS: Plus they lost me 50 euros

He was a star in PSV team who ended up in the CL Semi that year ,was scouted by a lot of top clubs in Premier League and Serie A.Chelsea was one of them, but he did go for United and was transfered for £4 million.
So i doubt it,he was a better player than many in United and a star back in 04

I have to say, the better team lost. I think C.Ronaldo is a chocker. I can't even imagine if he goes to R.Madrid next year. It will be very interesting to see how many players from both team return next season.
