England all out for 409
A good day for England, made better by McGraths absence. We should have scored more runs though, definately looks a good batting wicket. If it does take spin,Australia, who won the toss and decided to field may regret it.
A revised weather forecast says it should be good weather for the next few days, sunny and getting hotter and more humid.Maybe a chance for Hoggard's seam bowling.

407 all out doesn't seem to bad considering the usual mid-order collapse. Just a shame the shower came and we didn't get the chance to grab a couple of wickets before stumps were drawn.

Should be a good game if the weather keeps ok. 1st innings in excess of 400 and done in first day (and by slow England ) suggests a real possibility of a result of some sort.

Great first day.....what great entertainment for the people lucky enough to get a ticket.
Can't help but feel that England should have been say 5/400 and not all out 407......they have some good runs on the board, but they had Australia on the ropes and did not deliver the knock out blow.....at 1/160 on that pitch, they should have made 500+.....now Australia will feel that they are still well in this game.......bring on Day 2......and another late night for me in Australia

S H I T THINK WE ARE IN TROUBLE
WE SEE WHAT OUR TEAM IS MADE OF NOW
WHAT A BALL BY WARNE TO GET STRAUSS GREAT LEG BREAK
pitched way outside the off stump and turning in sharply, Strauss looking to pad it away fails to make contact and the ball crashes into the stumps, Warn strikes in his first over

Warne is our only hope (needs to redeem himself after that shot he played).......If England set us more than 350, we are F**cked IMHO.
Don't forget Giles will be bowling to our left handers (4 out of the top 7) into those footmarks.

Another great days entertainment on Day 3
Australia did really well to bowl out England for 182 with another 5 wickets for Warnie. What a player.
Thank goodness for Freddie Flintoff who beat the seamers all over the ground for a great 72.
With Australia needing another 80runs and 7wickets down it should be Englands match. Sunday should be unmissable for cricket lovers.

A good day for England; Flintoff is something else isn't he? They had an ambulance waiting outside to take him for an x-ray on his shoulder when play finished for the day.
They make'em tuff oop north yoo know!

Well that was edge of the seat stuff - victory by two runs. Lets hope we can keep the momentum going to Old Trafford

Anyone know what the odds were for a draw before the game started?

Well l won my bet.....but if truth be known l was hoping Australia could pinch it in the end....what a great game....l think England were the better team for most of the match.
That is the fourth time Australia has lost a test match by less than 4 runs since they laost to England in 1985 by 3 runs.

Fantastic Sunday Morning Entertinment
That sent me down to the Pub on Sunday lunch time in a good mood however, bloody hell that was close ! You can not under estimate the battling quality of this Australian team and i am not convinced Our (England's) tail enders would have hung around for as long in similar circumstances.
With the third test starting on Thursday i am not about to make any bold predictions or rash statements but the important thing is that, this England team is able to provide good competition to the World Champions and confirm their status as at least, the second best Test Match playing nation.
Hopefully McGrath stays injured and Lee's hand blows up like a balloon following that direct hit by Flintoff
