Website not up to date
It may already be obvious, but if you don't already know I am currently having one or two technical problems with my website and it means that some things get updated whereas others don't.
I am working on this and trying to resolve it, but every time I think I've got on top of things, more problems appear.
Hopefully, everything will be up-to-date after tonight.
At present the League Table is up-to-date after all this weekend's games, so you can see where you currently stand. It's started getting close up there !!

David Jones is the latest player to leave Manchester United for foreign shores, with the midfielder striking a loan deal at NEC Nijmegen.
The England Under-21 international had been on loan at Preston, who wanted to keep him for the remainder of the season, but he opted to cut short his stint at Deepdale in favour of a move to the Netherlands.
Jones was granted permission by The Red Devils to travel to Nijmegen for a trial and a deal was concluded on Thursday following an impressive training spell.
The 21-year-old will spend the remainder of the season in the Eredivisie, before returning to Old Trafford in the hope of impressing Sir Alex Ferguson.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Richie Jones, Adam Eckersley, Lee Martin and Danny Simpson have left Old Trafford for spells in Belgium this month.

these bonus questions are strange could not work out what last weeks was about,maybe a little more detail on how each question is asking may help.

Yes, my apologies if you have not undertood them to date, I do review what I have written and usually post a message here with more details. However, I would also point out that I have mentioned many times that if you are not sure of anything, then please ask either by PM or email to the address shown on the profile or my website.
The one that is coming up is fairly simple, there are 16 4th Round F.A.Cup matches to be played on the weekend of 28th/29th January 2006 and what I am after is a guess on how many times the letters "C", "U" or "P" appear in the surnames of the goalscorers from those 16 games. I will use the BBC's website to adjudicate this http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/default.stm i.e. what they say is final.
As for the scoring, I will award 10 points to each correct guess, if nobody gets it absolutely right, then 10points goes to the nearest guess(es) and then 9 points, 8 points, 7 points etc. for the next nearest and so on.

I have tried to mix it up a little bit, some so-called "skill" questions, with others being pure guesswork and that's mainly because it is quite hard to factor in so many different nationalities. Don't forget, not all people will be familiar with the teams from other countries and trying to find some kind of happy balance is very difficult to do.
In the past, I have tried to include games from a lot of the countries represented by the guys involved in the competition, apartfrom the English teams for the English guys, I have included teams from Scotland (Talbotman), Ireland (Allybabba22 + peakay), Wales (gez, steve w + mars), Holland (erik1, Whazzzup + Wakeboycam), Denmark (Bono), Norway (Yahooka + Shagrath), Germany (Werwolf), Sweden (Viperman) and finally Iraq (Denver).
Unfortunately Australia (yourself + Mav) is a no-go, which just leaves Another Planet (Alfie) !!!!

Bonus Question - 28th/29th Jan 2006
There is a bonus question this weekend and I think it's fairly obvious what is required, however I'll give a few more details just in case...
There are 16 English F.A.Cup matches this weekend and all I want is a guess from everyone as to how many times the letters "C" "U" and "P" will appear in the surnames of all the goalscorers from those 16 matches. I want just one combined total, so please do not separate the letters out and give 3 guesses i.e. one guess for each letter.
Example 1
Wolves 0 Manchester United 2 : the scorers are van Nistelrooy and Rooney. None of the 3 letters appear in those 2 names, so this match will add 0 (zero) to the overall total.
Example 2
Everton 1 Chelsea 2 : the scorer for Everton is Ferg uson and for Chelsea Lam pard and G udjohnsen. This match would add 3 to the total as you can see from the letters highlighted above.

If anyone is still unsure about what is required, then please let me know.
10 points will be awarded to every entrant who gets the total exactly right and then points will be awarded to the next nearest guesses on a reducing scale. If nobody gets it correct, then 10 points will be awarded to the nearest guess and so on in a reducing scale e.g. 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Only 55 points will be offered, unless there are multiple correct entries. With such a case, the number of exact guesses will determine the next level of points, i.e. if 3 people guess correct then the next nearest guess is awarded 7 points (9 and 8 will not be used as 3 people got 10 points).
I will be using the BBC's website to adjudicate this and what they show will be used. No disputes.

Currently it's my mate who does the "Sports Bets" with me on my website, but he's played both his jokers so I reckon it's only a matter of time before someone plays a good joker and overtakes him. Your fellow countryman peakay is sitting handy with both jokers still to play, he just needs to pick the right weekends to play them, as you can see, last weekend was not exactly a high scoring round !! Denver was looking good at one point, but "Mr.Consistency" Whazzzup has moved up the table steadily in recent weeks to now sit second, waiting to pounce !! I might have to start leaving off the | |
