Have been here to some thai festivals or celebrations like new year etc. Also one thai beauty contest, which gave me a view insite thai demogracy: You buy flower rings and hang them around the neck of your favorite.Thats it, the more you buy the better the chance for her.Very demogratic

IFF ITS the thai food festival at battersea park your talking about i went to it every year for 7 years when i lived in london they always seemed to be lucky with the weather and it was always a good day out good food and the best thing is they did not rip you off for drink prices if i remember correct singha and singha gold was being sold for £1.50 thats good considering you are in a festival with no other place to buy beer lots of thai girls around as well but unfortunately most already married to farang guys who like me will probably be in the vicinity of the beer tent !555555555

ahh mate................
it was good sh1t..........weather but not up to scratch, but what can u do.
me and bob went up there about 2pm,straigt on the singha, followed by the chang(got the bandana) .
Mainn stage was alright, few thai love songs, muay thai demonstration,we spent our time just sampling the food and checking out the talent, fair bit knocking about i tell thee.
small world, well i soppose it could easily happen when your at a thai festival.... we bumped into 2 thai girls we know from LOS.
One of the girls i knew was going(1st girl i met in patong),now she married live in UK,get the odd message, phone call ,nice girl.was sippi9ng my singha and bumped into her.
Second was a girl we met once in patts, old squinty,Alfie knows the one.
but just a short hello.
met a few people we know from our area aswell.
vibe was good .
little taster for the coming tour, but not a snitch on the real thing...........roll on 25th.

The best times I've had in the UK at Thai events have been at the Thai Buddhist Temple (Wat Buddhapadipa in Wimbledon) during Songkran. I used to spend a lot of time here when I was younger.
Brilliant fun. All the Thai dancing demos, Muay Thai and there is a Miss Songkran contest too (which I entered and got cold feet over, beauty queens are *****es btw). There is also a brill market, you can load up on as much food as you can muster.
The icing on the cake is that it's set in such beautiful grounds.

I love Loy Krathong, I never understood what it was all about as a kid except lighting candles on a pretty floating device! This temple has a great huge pond/small lake where they set the Krathong off to float. Oh and there is yet ANOTHER Thai beauty contest!! Go, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. Everyone there is dead friendly.
