Doop saloop salia what mean?
I was staying with my girls family in Khorat and every time she got a bit cheeky towards me the men in her family would pretend to slap her and say doop saloop salia or sa lia. My girl has limited english and her family can not speak a word of english so they could'nt translate it for me. Does anyone know what it means?

It is a fun saying and means 'I slap your face until your unconcious', doop meaning slap, saloop salai til go to sleep, lie down, unconcious. No exact translation of almost any thai but fairly close to the meaning.

Three Stooges= 3 men named Moe, Larry, and Curly, slapstick comedians who appeared together in American short films, which became extremely popular when the old films were shown on TV in the 1960s, and in reruns since then. Moe Fine and Curly Fine were brothers, as was Shemp Fine, one of the original 3 Stooges, who was later replaced by his brother Curly.
Moe was their leader, the smart one(only by comparsion), and smacked the other two in the face quite a bit, when they said or did something stupid, which was most of the time. He was irritable, had a short temper, and was a bit of a schemer, but was always, in his idiotic way, trying to look out for the interests of the other two, whom he considered stupid. He thought he was quite clever, but wasn't much smarter than Larry, although he was much more aggressive than the easy-going Larry.
Larry was a happy-go-lucky, congenial, everyman sort of character, not as "smart" as Moe, but smarter than Curly. You could always see his thought process visible on his face as he stopped to think and figure things out. When he reached a conclusion, the puzzled look would disappear, replaced by a self-satisfied grin. Of course, his conclusions were most often in error.
Curly was childlike, eccentric, and so dumb he bordered on moronic. But he was totally innocent and lovable, like a child. He was a child man, who made extremely funny faces, sounds, and body movements. Had it not been for his comedic genius, I don't think the Stooges would have attained the peaks of success they once reached. But, ironically, Curly Fine did not live to see that day, as he died at a young age, before the films, which were made for theaters, were shown on TV. They hired a replacement, who resembled him for new movies and appearances, but he had only a small fraction of the talent and none of the charisma of his predecessor.
Moe is the one with the "bowl" cut hair, Larry the one with wild, kinky hair, balding in the front, and Curly is the one with very, very short hair.
The 3 Stooges were especially popular among pre-teen boys, who loved to emulate their slapstick antics.

Thanks for your help. Yes she is from Korat. I asked a thai friend and she could not tell me what it meant but she said it can only be said to friends. If you say it to strangers they will be angry too much.

Becoz it's OK to tell your friend to **** off, but starts trouble if you say it to someone you don't know very well.

Correction: Got the Stooges names mixed up. They were Larry Fine, Moe Howard, Curly Howard, and Shemp Howard.
I f I had been thinking, I could never had made that mistake, since in the classic hospital scene where they are pretending to be doctors, a woman's voice over the Public Address system keeps paging them, repeating, "Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard........Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard......" Therefore two are named Howard and one is named Fine. What 10 yr. old kid who loved the Stooges could ever forget that scene?

Dop salop salai should be used with caution. If you wanna use it as a joke - I guess you can but bear in mind I was with my friend last year in Phuket and he said it fairly jokingly in kangaroo bar and the TG took some major offence. It was definitely unexpected but he didn't use it again. In general Thais that I've asked about it say its a "very rude" expression. But that being said, when you say it in the right context and with a smile it must surely be harmless. Any experiences?
