Just firming up the details but I may be going up at the end of the week to do the first 9 toilets in one village, with the others to be completed in June. I;ve been asked to go up and cover a water project first, the dunnies will go into a village with 11 houses and 2 existing toilets.

Quick Update. Appleby College trip a success, one fairly serious injury but not on the construction site fortunately. Rule No 1 Do not run down a hill chasing a football- especially when there's a big post in the way!! 6 stitches tends to ruin a 16 year old's day. Off on Monday to start the first 9 toilets, will keep you posted on return.

My summer schedule has now been set so as I arrive Patong July 7 I will come to Faulty Towers that day to make my donation for Tommy's stinker. Ahhh after a couple of weeks with only Thai food on beforehand I might just leave a stinker there at the premises as well Unintentionally of course Be warned 55555
only just found this thread after Crusty told me about it the other day when I popped in for another top up on the schools charity...don't know how I missed it in the past...
I'll drop into HQ next week before I go with my contribution for
"Nelsons Thunder from Downunder"

just drop it into Crusty at Faulty Towers Chris.....
how about "ATMs Deposit Department"
How about "ATMs Deposit Depot"? Always wanted my own depot
Will drop the funds off early next week when I am in during the day.
FYI, maybe I am alone, but I didn't know honey huts was a euphemism for toilets. You might get more donors with a clear and obvious subject line. I honestly thought this thread was about honey, which i really don't care about, so I just ignored it.

Hi guys title was deliberate. A- as a play on words ( ie Honeywagon- colloquial expression for travelling or portable potties) and B- as a delicate way of describing the process for our more PC members. Many thanks ATMW, I will add you to the list for Mae Pho Ki ( more to follow below).

A start has been made on the toilets at Ban Pa Kia Nok (Old Pine Forest Village) approx Lat 18 24 17.7, Long 98 32 35.6, Elv 1060m. The project was done in conjunction with the provision of Water Tanks by the Pattaya West Winds Lodge. The aim was to replace 2 small fiberglass tanks with 10 times increased storage capacity. Without the school kids from overseas the tanks were built in 5 days as opposed to the 10 it normally takes.
Once this was done we were able to start the installation of the first of the 9 toilets from your donations. 2 were completed yesterday and the others will be constructed within the next 10-14 days. The reason for the delay is that a wedding is due to take place on Monday and this is a protracted affair, lasting up to a week (dependong on when the rice wine runs out!) The plan is that Jim will get up and photograph te remaining dunnies in mid to late Apr and I will pass on your phots as well as post here. Due to other circumstances I cannot remain up here until the job has been finished but all the materials are in place and I have no doubt the villagers will now get on and finished as discussed. The village headman (in the pig chopping up phot) is very honest and dynamic, caring greatly for the people around him and the improvement of their quality of life.
It was difficult to decide who's name should go on the first toilet and I hope no one gets their nose out of joint, but this all started with 'Crusty's Crapper' so that's the one I went with. A pig was despatched to the great good of a village party to celebrate the success of the project and everyone got suitably wasted on home made Lao Khao (samples available unless I run out of fuel on the wy back)
The plan is that the next tranche of 12 toilets will go into Mae Po Ki approx Lat 17 47 18.32. Long 97 57 58.9 ( Near the Myanmar border), in late Apr, before the rainy season kicks in. Jim will take phots on completion of the projects ( still trying to find a toilet term beginning with 'M'!) and I will visit when i am back up in mid July.
Thanks again to you all for your support of this worthwhile cause- if you were actually to meet these people you would realise how life changing this has been for them. In the greater good I think we can call a halt to further toilets for now, until there is interest in doing approx 10 per village its awkward to keep track of things on a piecemeal basis, although I can keep a rough record running. Mr Dk, ATMW, Tommychk, Mac and Dennis have got Mae Po Khi sorted between them and that will get them through the rainy season

Hi, just to give you the 'heads' up on the plan I think it is best to cut off more dunny sonsorship for now. The reason is that we now have 14 available to go into Mae Pho Khi (10 Mae Po Khi and 4 in the next village). With other projects online, including one sponsored through Dingo's father and the Patong Rotary Club this will take us up to the rainy season. If there is enough interest around Christmas we can maybe see about trying another 10 toilets this time next year.
