Online Text about Buddhism

After my frist trip to LOS I have had an interest in the Thai culture and how it is the people are the way they are. In searching I ran into a fairly popular text that gives a pretty good introduction to Buddhism. It did clear up a few things for me, since I knew very little about it. It is titled Good Question, Good Answer and is written by Bhikkhu Shravasti Dhammika. You can find it here: http://www.buddhistinformation.com/g...ood_answer.htm

Also the site had a section dedicated to Theravada Buddhism here: http://www.buddhistinformation.com/t...da_section.htm

I'm not sure how much of this was directly reflected by the people I met in Thailand, they seemed to be a bit more religious about the whole thing than this author made it sound. Like building things for Buddha and being rewarded by luck as a result. This text made it sound more like a philosophy to be at peace with things rather than a faith for rewards.

Bhuddism also has many branches and influences.. Chinese bhuddists flavour it with taoism.. Natural Thai's tend to flavour it with animism.. Indian buddists take on some of the hindu belief structure (so I understand)..

Seems pretty adaptable...
