I'll provide the transliteration of the latest one and let's see now if someone has a good translation for it.

Learning Thai at your local ironmongers

Went up to Global House a few months ago to order stuff for installation of booster pump/water tank at the house.
Spoke with the little assistant and showed him the drawing which I had made up of all the equipment needed, I asked him if they had 1" non return valves in stock and he produced one, so as I normally do I asked him what the Thai word was for this
With a beaming smile he replied " N...R...V ", embarrased or what, at least it's another word to add to my Thai vocabulary

OK, I may be way off here, but I'll take a shot at it.

My translation of the above is: "His dreams completely exhausted, he lapsed into a state of feeling crushed." Or to more losely try to express the meaning of it in English, I would venture this: "His dreams having been thoroughly shattered, he felt crushed by the weight of the world on this shoulders." In other words, things didn't work out, and he fell into a deep depression.

Am I in the ballpark?

JayBee
