My phone doesnt have the correct OS for it but lots of people have series 60 Nokias now..

Most of the mid upper range nokias are series 60 now..

Very similar to the thing i was going to look into. But it looks like it would of worked on my old Sonyericsson p900, but not on the phone ive got at the mo. Shame really as I find it almost impossible to remember any Thai.

What i was thinking about was using the same technology that exists for services like the one where you can play a few bars of any song into your phone, while the service number is dialed, and it will tell you the song. But adapting it to a automated speech converter.

Not yet.. Expecting early mid sept and I am hearing very high price estimates.. heard everything from 35 - 45k for launch.. IIRC its 700 (+ VAT ??) Euros in Europe..

I was kinda keen on this phone due to its specs (wifi / BT / 4GB hard disc / Ipod like external controls / 2mp cam / etc) but the pics I have seen from its cam were not K750 quality and basically my 16,000 baht phone (plus additional memory card) does all the above (not 4GB but does support 4GB mem sticks when they are out) and is smaller and lighter..

Plus I get drunk and jump in swimming pools with my phone to often to want to spend that much one one.. As it was I killed my old phone in wet willies jacuzzi a month or so back and there was not waiting possible.. Now I am glad it worked that way..

Cheaper to get the 750 and flash it to an 800 (its the same hardware) then buy the better aftermarket headphone adapters (or use the supplied ones but the aftermarket has track skip, volume , etc on the dongle) and a 512 or 1GB card..

Works out less money and the same phone.. Personally I cant stand the w800's orange / 'youth' market case but will probably do a w800 FW flash once its possible to use the red firmware.. As the phone cases are online you can even buy a k750 and change it 100% to a w800 and still save I think (though not much by then)..

Unfortunately, I suspect the phrasebook is only Thai-English, not Thai-Autralian...

So, phrases would come out as "Hello, I'm very pleased to meet you." instead of "G'day mate!"; "I would very much like to make love to you." would not be rendered as "Brace yourself Sheila!" and you'd get "Would you like fore-play?" instead of "Hey Sheila! Wake up!"
