Phuket Nightlife: Live music / Live Band

Live music pubs are popular among thais, and in Patong we have some places that are both live music pubs and discos and these places are covered in the discoteque section. altought I will mention them here too. (These discoteques are often referred as thai disco.) In thai pubs & discos most people share a bottle of whiskey with friends and mix with soft drinks or soda.

Gitano Music-Cafe@Club Andaman
This is not a thai live music pub, this is a farang live music cafe with rock and rock'n'roll songs among others. It is located at Club Andaman Beach Resort. It is a nice and very different from other veneues in Patong, give it a try. I should mention that they have another pub located in Phuket Town, close to McDonalds and Robinsons.

Take One (Vegas, Bangla road)
A new pub that had grand opening December 31:st (1999) and is located at the same place as Vegas thai boxing. Very nice and beautiful pub with space for dancing but at the moment not many people here. Too bad, its worth a visit and I hope they will have success. Altought, during my visit the live band played old songs from the 60:s and 70:s and its not what I like. (The DJ played new popular songs, tought.)

Hollywood 99 Pub (Soi Sunset)
Probably the most popular live music pub in Patong, always crowded with thai people (and a few farangs). Sometimes they have good quality shows (& stand up comedy) known from thai TV. Even if you dont understand thai it can be fun to watch this, so give it a try.

Titanic (Soi Sunset)
I have this one in the discoteque section because this was a discoteque before, but now after renovation I think this is more a live music pub and nothing else. Last time I gave this place a visit there was a band with 'heavy metal' kind of clothes and they played rock music.

Galaxy (Soi Sunset)
Neighbour with Hollywood 99 Pub and it looks like a standard thai pub, I have only been there once and for me it didn't give that much.

Safari (On the way between Patong and Karon)
Safari is also covered in the discoteque section. They feature live music but this is not a real thai pub, this one is more like the ones in europe.

Kontai Pub & Seafood (Karon)
Covered in discoteque section. Popular place for ladies working in Karon beach nightlife.

Climax (Phuket Town - Ratsada road)
Unlike the pubs in Patong this place have action and many people early on the evening, I arrived about 10:00 pm and they begun to play live music and it was fun, around 11:00 pm it was crowded. I was the only farang and I enjoyed the covers of popular thai songs. If you want to see a good thai pub and get rid of the tourists this is the place to visit.

Spark Pub (Phuket Town - Ratsada road)
Similar to Climax but they played little different kind of music. A good advantage is the high stage, everybody can have a good look here. When I come here it was not crowded, but many people and I think this is a good place too, but talking for myself, I prefer Climax.
