VIP have been closed for a couple of days now, I don't know
why but I guess this is penalty for closing late or for admitting
customers under 20 years of age.
Showgirls a gogo will close today or tomorrow for 15 days,
due to police raids last month. There may be other veneues that
close during same period but I don't have any additional information
about this yet.
About the police, yesterday they visited many gogo bars and the
staff and thai customers had to show their I.D. cards and let the
police take a look in their bags. (I guess they check the age and
searching for drugs!)
The first two weeks of August have been busy with many Italy customers
but now Patong is quiet, I guess this will continue through September.
James Bond bar on Soi Eric has a new owner, the new bar name
will be Sambuca Bar and the new owner is from Italy.
Yesterday it was grand opening for Gitano Music-Cafe @ Club Andaman
in Patong, it is Gitano's second veneue on Phuket island. The
other one is located in Phuket Town. They also have a live web cam

I should mention
that VIP is open again, they opened again only few days after my
last update here. The last week have been very quiet in Patong,
not many tourists around and a lot of rain.
If you have been to Shark, Banana or Tai Pan and want something
new then I can recommend a visit to Pasha, Galaxy,
Million Pub or other places mainly for Thai people. It is
fun and they are friendly.
If you stay in Patong and don't want to go to Phuket Town to visit
a Cafe, give Oba Oba Showgirls (Platinum) or E-San Lan
Phrao (Open market) a visit.
Police close the main places 03:30 and you don't know where to look
for more fun? If you are lucky there may be bars open at Soi Katoey
with lights turned off or you can go to small karaoke bars
within Paradise Complex area. They close around 05-07 in
the morning.
The closing time changes all the time, now the police say 03:00
is the current closing time. (Which means 03:00 - 03:30 in real
world). Patong is quiet now, not many tourists but the nightlife
is still ok.
VIP have
been closed for a week now but I don't know why, maybe due to late
opening time. If this is the case, they may be back in business
in few days.
Mai Thai
Bar on Soi Eric is the first bar in Patong with a real live
camera broadcasting every day between 21:00 and 01:45. Take a look

As I wrote on the main page few weeks ago, the closing time is now
02:00 am for all bars and discoteques in Phuket. There are currently
people who try to do something about this and talk with Phuket Governor,
organize the bar owners and collect name signatures and so on but
I doubt this will have any effect.
This is not a big problem for the bar owners, this is a problem
mainly for the discoteques and some (late night) karaoke bars.
But it is bad for Patong nightlife, people who work in the bars
or restaurants have no place to go to after work. Mai Sanuk!
However, Euro Deli (Sand Inn) restaurant/hotel close to VIP
and 7-eleven is very busy these days, since it is a restaurant they
don't need to close 02:00 and many people sit there and drink after
02:00 am.
