I hope there will be justice for The Shark Club, running
a successful business and be a farang in Thailand is not easy, you
may be a target for local influential politicians and business men.
The Shark have been closed since end of January.
Full moon
party at Koh Phangan is not a full moon party anymore, in
Thai Buddhism, every full moon day is a holy day for merit-making
and therefore the full moon party has to be delayed one day, to
please Purachai and his social order crusade.
Valhalla
is up for sale, according to Gazette. Valhalla is a great looking
place, maybe a business opportunity for you? However, I would not
recommend anyone to invest money in Thailand at the moment, nobody
know what will happen next to Patong and its nightlife venues during
Purachai's social order crusade and due to Thai Rak Thai's (Thai
love Thais) anti-farang politic.
I
heard that Soi Crocodile/Katoey is asking the bar owners
for 1.5 million baht to renew the 3 year contract later this year.
This is an huge increase (60%) compared to the old price. Very expensive
and also have in mind that business is going down and nobody know
what happen next.
Check
out Patong Night Show, close to Extacy in Soi Sunset before
it is to late. I haven't been there myself yet but the name tells
it all, according to a bar guest.
The
nightlife in general is little bit slow compared to last year but
still good enough for a great time.
Tiger Entertainment opened December 15 and have been a success,
beautifully decorated and crowded every night.
Stargate on Soi Eric has a new owner and the new name of the bar
is Bryan's.
The first weeks of December have been quiet but the bars have been
busy the last ten days. There was many rumours about closing time
for Christmas eve, Gazette reported all night, but the police in
Patong said 02 am. Strange? Finally, the bars and discos were open
all night.
New rules from the Police according to a meeting few days ago; sounds
crazy to me. I don't want to point out the new rules yet, I will
see what happen first.
A new discoteque, Tiger disco, will open very soon on second
floor at Bangla Night Plaza, I am looking forward to visit this
new place when they open. I'll be back with a report.
There are also new beer bars (sigh!) being constructed at Vegas
Thai Boxing arena, they simply make the boxing arena smaller and
put beer bars on the left side.
High season is around the corner and we already see a lot more people
arriving here and having fun. October was very quiet due to Sep.
11 and the taleban/Afghanistan conflict but December may be normal,
according to hotel reservations statistics for December.
I don't know what happened to the Entertainment Zones, I only know
there was a meeting in Bangkok, mid October regarding this subject
but I don't know what decision they made. I really hope we can extend
the closing time to 04 or 05 am in the morning again.
Grand opening for a new Irish Pub on Bangla road, Scruffy Murphy's,
this is the old Alice Bar but renovated and look totally different.
They sell pint draft beer for 99 baht.
The police and government had meeting with the bar owners today
and they talked about entertainment zones. No new bars will
be allowed outside the zones and existing bars outside the zones
must close at 02 am. However, the bars inside the zones will be
excluded from the 02 am closing time, at the moment we don't know
what the closing time will be. Probably 05 am. Staff working in
the nightlife must be at least 18 years old, customers must be 20
years old or above. The new entertainment zone in Patong will be
Bangla road, beach road from Bangla to Sawatdirak road and Rat u
thit road from Bangla to Sawatdirak road. The area is covering 100m
from the center of the roads.
Flash a gogo is closed during September. Patong's nightlife is busy
all year round, the only exception may be this month. And on the
top of it, the 02 am closing time due to Thai Rak Thai's anti-drug
campaign.
