The Songkran was really fun and the waterfights begun on
late April 11 in some bar streets, but the real waterfights took
place during April 12-13. I also took the opportunity to visit Safari
Pub & Disco on April 13 to watch Sea Boxing, this
was first time for me.
I have no pictures from Songkran or the Sea Boxing, I simply left
the camera at home... and you can imagine why!
Soi Eric and some bars on the Bangla Road were closed on
April 12.
If you want to continue drinking after the 02 am closing time,
you have the following options: C&N Hotel, Expat
Hotel (at the end of Soi Sunset), small karaoke bars located
on the small soi off Sawatdirak Rd. (opposite Baan Sai Nam Yen School)
and ofcourse Seven Eleven.
Sphinx/Crazy Horse and Pink Panther on Soi Seadragon
is closed at the moment, I don't know the reasons. Instead you may
give TJ's Monkey Bar a visit, it's located between the ones
mentioned above and they had grand opening just a few months ago.
The interior/design look like the bars in Bangkok, and this is new
for Phuket. Maybe because the owner worked as manager for Rock Hard
before?
Now when many contracts will expire at Soi Eric there will
be major changes to the street. The new bars and shops is expected
to open May 1. There will be 5 new bars, one of the new bars is
from the split of Black Magic. Click
here for map and details.

New
bars at Bangla Night Plaza under construction
|
I can not believe they are making more bars. The Bangla Night
Plaza shopping mall is now converted into bars and the shops
are thrown out. This is now a pure entertainment complex with the
UB40 bars behind and Tiger Entertainment and more bars on the second
floor.
The Police are strict regarding gogo bars, scantily clad is not
accepted, as the girls at Rock Hard had to put more clothes
on when the Police visited them yesterday. As opposite, the gogo
bars at Nana Plaza in Bangkok are allowed topless dancing during
21:00 and 01:00.
I went to Bangkok few days ago and took the opportunity to
check the status of the nightlife in Bangkok. Business were slow
compared to 6 months ago when I visited Bangkok last time but this
is also true for Phuket. (Sep 11 and Purachai's social order crusade
may be the reason?)
I went to Soi Cowboy and visited the new Dollhouse,
it is a 2 floor a gogo with free food buffe during happy hours;
05-07 pm. Very nice design and interior. Continued to Phatpong
and visited some bars there and had some more beers before I headed
back to Nana Plaza. Ate Mexican burger at Woodstock,
ended up at G-spot where all ladies were topless and enjoyed
their dancing. Many beautiful ladies there, but the place was quite
empty, not many customers. I went back to Nana Hotel and the Nana
(Angels) Disco together with my lady who went to Bangkok to see
me. Thank you Tilac! Nana Disco was ok, many available ladies
but not that many farangs and you could easily move around and dance.
Last time, the place was crowded and you hardly moved around.

I forget to mention that Tai Pan expanded their premises
recently and almost doubled their space.
Grand opening for the new bars at Vegas Thai boxing, Hooters
Bar, they are available for sale/lease. The good thing is that
they may have good business during the fights.
