We had US Navy here for a few days but not many sailors around,
I saw only a few of them.
I gave Banana a few visits recently and it was crowded both
times with many nice ladies around, Banana has more (farang) couples
than any other disco in Patong, I think.
The closing time of Tiger disco is varying from day to day,
usually between 02 and 02:30 and this is still a popular nightspot
and a good place to visit.
Soi Gonzo opened the street again on August 5, the street
had a major facelift and look a lot better now, although there are
still some construction work and some bars left for sale. I guess
about 40% of the bars is currently up and running.

Great news regarding the 02 am closing time!
The Tiger disco is now closing around 02:30 every night.
When I visited a Karaoke bar recently and the Police entered the
place at 03:30, I was surprised to find out they come to do an age
check of the customers, not to close the place due to late opening
hours.
As you may know, you must be 20 years or above to enter a bar/disco
these days and The Jammin' and Dance Fever in Phuket
Town are closed during July for breaking this rule and allowing
underage customer to enter the premises.
Soi Eric has almost finished their construction work and
there are now bars all the way from the Bangla Road.
Many shops are selling pirated DVDs with the latest movies
but sometimes they scare the police and take them off the shelves,
but I found out some of the shops created backdoor, hidden rooms
with all movies still available at all times.
The Beach disco (former Tin Mine 21 disco) had grand opening
on May 19 and had a famous Thai singer performing on May 20, I forget
her name, thought. This disco is located at the Royal Paradise hotel.
Margarita bar were under construction to make a big screen TV (projector
based) on the wall to be prepared for World Cup Soccer. But
the biggest screen in Patong can be found at Vegas Thai Boxing,
they have a huge screen, like a cinema and you see pretty well from
the main road.
I had birthday few days ago and went to Galaxy, a thai-style
disco with entertainment (shows and live music) located in soi sunset.
This place is always crowded, all year round, mainly because it
carters to Thai people and not tourists. It's a great place and
well worth a visit.
The entertainment zones are on the way, great news, hopefully
the discos may be allowed to close 03 or 04 soon.
We had about 5000 sailors and marines here during May 6 and forward,
when they left some other ships arrived but not many peope on these
ships I guess, I did not see them. I met many nice and friendly
people from USS Bonhomme Richard LHD-6, thanks to you all
for having a good time.
The last week have been very quiet in Patong compared to the first
two weeks in May, we also had great weather, sunny weather when
Bangkok had raining every day.
The new bars in Soi Eric are proceeding slowly but they are working
on it, expect one or two months until everything is finished. Margarita
bar at the Bangla/Rat-u-thit intersection is under construction,
maybe a new owner? I have seen an ad that a music bar between Tai
Pan and the Shark Club was for sale some time ago.
